DAY 028
SOMETHING ON THE WIND
Another day dawns in the fair town of Mathias. The sky is a blanket of light grey, tiny specks of snow lightly falling as the hours pass. It makes the town feel almost quaint, the scenery quite peaceful in its winter garb. But beneath the veneer of peace there is a pervasive dread of something approaching. Something inevitable is on the wind, something that has come before and will come again...
Throughout the day, residents will consistently experience feelings of deja vu, that sense of having done or seen or said something before that can never be fully recalled. It happens again and again, tugging at the back of their minds, the memories just frustratingly out of reach.
Residents will also notice a note pinned around town:
The note can be found on the town hall's bulletin board and the front doors of many town establishments, including the Grey Gull, the library, and the boarding house. At the bottom of the note it is specified that the meeting will take place "tomorrow, when the sun is over the town square."NEW ARRIVALs
The newest arrivals to Mathias will wake on the frozen lawn of the town hall atop a snowdrift. They had best hurry inside and get warmed up before hypothermia sets in.
DAY 029
A GATHERING OF MINDS
In the late afternoon when the sun hangs over the town square, residents will converge upon the Town Hall, where a larger meeting room has been filled with rows of chairs. After most people arrive, John Constantine stands and addresses the room... and then sits again. A grand introduction, truly.
Residents are encouraged to share their experiences and information they have gathered in the town while holding questions until the end. Rather than getting tangled in the intricacies of each person's tale, it seems better to absorb the broad strokes and try to connect the puzzle pieces to get a look at the bigger picture that is the mystery of Mathias Township.THE INEVITABLE
As the meeting comes to an end and residents begin to converse among themselves, the feeling of something approaching and sense of deja vu begin to build, becoming almost oppressive as night falls. An hour after nightfall, residents learn the reason for these sensations that cease immediately as the earth begins to rumble. The buildings shake, furniture tumbles, and breakables crash to the floor as the earthquake sets in without warning.
The tremors last around a minute, far longer than a normal earthquake, and then the town settles again. There are no aftershocks, which many may note is quite unusual. Residents will find quite a bit of mess in their homes and other locations around town, but there is no structural damage to be found despite the intense shaking.
CONDITIONS UPDATE — THE WEATHER is fairly typical of a northern winter. The sky is grey, the temperature hovers just below freezing during the day (colder at night), and a light snow falls during both days. Residents should bundle up when going outside and not venture too far into the dark night...
— THE FOG remains blocking the paths in the forest, urging residents to stay huddled within the town proper, and it also now blocks the northern section of town, beginning just before where residents know the chasm in the earth to be. Venturing into the fog is ill-advised.
— DISAPPEARANCES continue with Sherlock Holmes being the latest victim of the town's unsettling whims.OOC NOTES — TOWN MEETING STRUCTURE The town meeting section of the log is designed for characters to share any information they would like to with the other residents in attendance. ICly, characters should "hold questions until the end" with the intent that they can get the Big Picture first and connect any dots they see. OOCly, this means players should post their character's information sharing tag in the Meeting section, but the actual conversation about whatever they share happens after the meeting proper in the Mingle section. That way, these conversations can happen however players prefer, be that one-on-one or in small or large groups.
— HOUSING Please be sure your character's housing arrangements are up to date on our list. We're missing a few people and it really helps to know where everyone is for planning. Frequent updates for wandering characters are perfectly acceptable.
— THE BULLETIN BOARD has been updated. Players should note there is a change to the wall near the board that may be of great interest to some residents.

— Is there any documentation/pictures remaining in the clinic? Especially revolving around Dr. Ken Suzuki or patients.
— I can't find it listed anywhere, so it may be buried in an old comment thread. Are generic over-the-counter pain medications at the General Store, on top of First Aid supplies?
— Does the feeling of dread remain in the Clinic? If so, how long can someone stay inside before it becomes overwhelming where they need to run away?
— What information can be learned about the owners of her new home on Jackson BLVD? As she is going through their personal effects and demolishing aspects of their poor garage.
— Are basic took kits found in Mathias? Hammers, nails, drills, ect (Sorry for the edit, realized I should of added this)

after the town hall meeting reveals that spirals have popped up in more places than just on the baptism certificate Claire found, she'll pay her little pen pal in the making another visit.
Claire draws the spiral on a piece of paper, writes "do you know what this is?" underneath, and pushes the paper under the door.

- houses/general store: what sort of spices/cupboard herbs would be found, in general?
- botanical shop: are there old pots/old earth?
- greenhouse: is there a way to get inside? portal magic, unlocking spells, etc?
- bottling the fog - can she do this with an empty bottle? what will happen if she does so?

Because he's been told about the magically replenishing refrigerators, he will want to try something.
1. Stay awake all night from day 27 to 28, observing the fridge with the door open. Does anything happen?
2. If that fails, he will leave a note inside the fridge between day 28 and day 29, asking for something that's not already inside, like "I want pizza pockets"
3. If that fails, he will leave a polite note, asking "Can I have a pizza pocket, please? Sincerely Quentin."

The 1306 + Hargreeves Dinner Party thread has basically become a giant, thread-jacking all over the place palooza.
So I was wondering.... when it comes to AC, could we just link the top level and count all our comments throughout it, because I'm thinking that trying to do individual thread off-shoots on this to collect AC or AP either one, will be a mess on our side and yours, both, because of all the threadjacking happening in it.

Additional details: After Ellie shares her Idea that there may be underground passages, he will want to walk slowly and carefully around 1307 Phillips Drive (the moonshine/Hirano house) until the floor creaks differently, or feel some wind/air coming up between the floorboards, or check in the rooms/move furniture around looking for any trap doors etc. If the floor is just normal he will start prying up floorboards at random. If it is more convenient for something to be unearthed/revealed after the earthquake I can time this thread for end of day 29; quite flexible with this.

well, who is she kidding, no... it's downright weird. Not bad, just... yeah. Claire's gotten used to sharing the house with Jody and Alex, and lives alone in her car and in motel rooms when on the road during a case. This arrangement is... weird. And new.
Quite frankly, she feels oddly crowded in and doesn't quite know why. They're not doing anything except... existing. And caring. And being their usual brand of gross weird brothers-dads-uncles.
Ugh.
Still. Living in such close proximity, and having Cas back despite the dire news Dean intitially had to share with her... It's not a bad deal honestly. It also means, though, that she gets to watch them.
And that means she gets to watch them be weird at each other.
Something's up. And Claire has every intention of skillfully, tactfully unearthing secrets via subtle interrogation of the less emotionally constipated dude in the house - which ironically is an angel wearing her father's corpse.
Her life feels like a dumb TV show sometimes.
Regardless... they've all been back from their weird little trips for a while, she still has her hand bandaged with torn sheets - downgraded from manor sheets to abandoned house sheets, thanks for nothing Mathias, and launches operations sneak attack by casually wandering over to Cas and beginning the most skilfull, subtle, roundabout interrogation... by way of applying a battering ram to the topic. ]

It doesn't help that on day 26 he had a conversation that got him thinking, but did not get him acting.
He wakes up the morning of the 28th. He isn't shaking, nor is he dehydrated. He took Cas' advice and gathered Gatorade for his electrolyte needs. He's not bender-level when it comes to his drinking. He's steadied it. He can't stop, won't stop - but, he's functioning again. Screw the doctor that tried to call him out. He has bigger problems than eventual liver failure.
He'll die eventually, right? They all will. (Hell, he has.)
Now that he's had his own space, hovered enough but not said anything, Dean thinks he has the bandwidth to be there for Claire. In this case, it means a knock at her bedroom door and the offering of a mug of coffee. (There's no booze in it, though.) He's noticed her bandaged hand. He knows she too was locked somewhere else. He has questions. Mystery town aside, he also has concerns. And those concerns? Being there. Just being there.
So, here he is. Stepping up. Knocking. )

Day 28 - Open
It didn't matter that it was cold; that had stopped mattering a while ago, even with all the layers he wore. All that did matter was that Raylan was moving and didn't have any walls around him. If something was going to happen, it had better happen out in the open.
Library
Despite the fact that he'd been there a few days before, he'd run out of books to read and so he found himself back at the library. He sighed at the building, glad that it was still there but a little annoyed that he was resigned to cleaning up whatever he found inside. Logically, he probably could leave it to whatever librarian fairy worked the place, but something in him couldn't bear to see so many on the floor.
"They better not expect any Dewey Decimal system, that's for sure. Maybe there's somethin' 'bout the floor that makes it.. magic proof," he mused out loud to himself. Talking to yourself was a southern trait he wouldn't fully get away from.
The Antiques shop
After running back home and into Neal on the way, Raylan suggested that maybe they go check out the antique shop. Since Neal's got that high value eye, Raylan was hoping that maybe Neal would spot something in the piles and piles of stuff that Raylan and Doc had not. That was one of the perks of being a white collar thief, right? In the handbook?
He was sure it was.
"This place ain't like I heard the museum was but I know Doc and I coulda looted her for all her treasures.. not like there was much to find the first go around but.. wait til you see the stacks of this place, you'll understand why."

Day 28
[All right, fine. He'll get a house. And live here. And... try not to die, probably.
It's a work in progress, though. The house, not the not dying. Sometimes he even goes inside to look around and it's just so eerie. He feels like the world's most unwilling Goldilocks when he comes across pictures, personal belongings, things that once belonged to people. People that aren't him. Him, the intruder, wandering their livings rooms and kitchens like he's house shopping.
He can't quite bring himself to take anything with him yet either. He probably will in a couple of days - or sooner, depending - but right now it feels wrong.
So here is Carter, roaming the town.
Sometimes he stands in front of one of the houses, bouncing in the snow, not quite willing to go inside. When he finally does he ends up standing in front of a shelf or cabinet, staring at the items. Wondering who lived here. What they were like. What music they listened to. What their favorite books were. What their days looked like.
Maybe he's the ghost and somewhere, in the real world, the poor family living here is wondering what is opening and closing the doors around their home.]

[When he finally finds a smaller place on Jackson Boulevard, he sits on the steps leading up to the small porch even though he's freezing. Now that he sort of decided, it's even worse. Like he can't go back somehow. Like going inside with this decision will make it final, will settle the deal.

When he sees someone pass he calls out, pointing his thumb back over his shoulder.]

The silence, predictably, doesn't last forever though. He's got some things he'd like to touch on while it's just the two of them, nicely out of earshot of the other residents. Call it respect or some shit, whatever. Or maybe it's just that Negan's never dealt well with silence, always a nagging urge to fill it with some sort of talk.
Or maybe he actually likes Doc well enough to want to know what the actual fuck is going on in that head of his. They shared a hell of a moment not too long ago after all.

▶ day 28, the fog: bottled appetites
[ the fog posed many secrets, it would seem, and inspired quite a lot of inner turmoil.
only fair, she supposed, considering it had a proclaimed penchant for lethality. but, that also meant - there was no way of knowing what the hell it was. not really. it left for base speculation - and yennefer wasn't one to accept hearsay as unquestionable fact.
it wasn't that she didn't believe it could do what many said. she knew it could. she knew there were magics to command the elements against you. what mattered was how.
one will find yennefer at the edges of the fogs reach, carved out in a stark black coat amidst the milky white, not unlike a darkened, storm-promising sky.
more so, one will see her reach out towards it with an open palm, as another hand holds a bottle, fingers curling as she beckons. tendrils will curl away from that shifting wall, and reach towards her. ]
▶ day 28 or 29, back home: closed to ellie
[ yennefer had managed to scrape up enough herbs to start brewing ... something.
by the time ellie pokes back into the kitchen of their now shared residence, it will smell sharply and warmly of cinnamon. maybe a touch of ginger swirls under that, covered only by something that's more akin to burnt grass, languid tendrils of smoke stretching themselves out of a small pot she'd set on the counter. she chances a glance over to the girl as soon as she hears her. there is absolutely nothing weird going on here. ] Ellie.
