DAY 028
SOMETHING ON THE WIND
Another day dawns in the fair town of Mathias. The sky is a blanket of light grey, tiny specks of snow lightly falling as the hours pass. It makes the town feel almost quaint, the scenery quite peaceful in its winter garb. But beneath the veneer of peace there is a pervasive dread of something approaching. Something inevitable is on the wind, something that has come before and will come again...
Throughout the day, residents will consistently experience feelings of deja vu, that sense of having done or seen or said something before that can never be fully recalled. It happens again and again, tugging at the back of their minds, the memories just frustratingly out of reach.
Residents will also notice a note pinned around town:
The note can be found on the town hall's bulletin board and the front doors of many town establishments, including the Grey Gull, the library, and the boarding house. At the bottom of the note it is specified that the meeting will take place "tomorrow, when the sun is over the town square."NEW ARRIVALs
The newest arrivals to Mathias will wake on the frozen lawn of the town hall atop a snowdrift. They had best hurry inside and get warmed up before hypothermia sets in.

DAY 029
A GATHERING OF MINDS
In the late afternoon when the sun hangs over the town square, residents will converge upon the Town Hall, where a larger meeting room has been filled with rows of chairs. After most people arrive, John Constantine stands and addresses the room... and then sits again. A grand introduction, truly.
Residents are encouraged to share their experiences and information they have gathered in the town while holding questions until the end. Rather than getting tangled in the intricacies of each person's tale, it seems better to absorb the broad strokes and try to connect the puzzle pieces to get a look at the bigger picture that is the mystery of Mathias Township.THE INEVITABLE
As the meeting comes to an end and residents begin to converse among themselves, the feeling of something approaching and sense of deja vu begin to build, becoming almost oppressive as night falls. An hour after nightfall, residents learn the reason for these sensations that cease immediately as the earth begins to rumble. The buildings shake, furniture tumbles, and breakables crash to the floor as the earthquake sets in without warning.
The tremors last around a minute, far longer than a normal earthquake, and then the town settles again. There are no aftershocks, which many may note is quite unusual. Residents will find quite a bit of mess in their homes and other locations around town, but there is no structural damage to be found despite the intense shaking.

CONDITIONS UPDATE — THE WEATHER is fairly typical of a northern winter. The sky is grey, the temperature hovers just below freezing during the day (colder at night), and a light snow falls during both days. Residents should bundle up when going outside and not venture too far into the dark night...
— THE FOG remains blocking the paths in the forest, urging residents to stay huddled within the town proper, and it also now blocks the northern section of town, beginning just before where residents know the chasm in the earth to be. Venturing into the fog is ill-advised.
— DISAPPEARANCES continue with Sherlock Holmes being the latest victim of the town's unsettling whims.OOC NOTES — TOWN MEETING STRUCTURE The town meeting section of the log is designed for characters to share any information they would like to with the other residents in attendance. ICly, characters should "hold questions until the end" with the intent that they can get the Big Picture first and connect any dots they see. OOCly, this means players should post their character's information sharing tag in the Meeting section, but the actual conversation about whatever they share happens after the meeting proper in the Mingle section. That way, these conversations can happen however players prefer, be that one-on-one or in small or large groups.
— HOUSING Please be sure your character's housing arrangements are up to date on our list. We're missing a few people and it really helps to know where everyone is for planning. Frequent updates for wandering characters are perfectly acceptable.
— THE BULLETIN BOARD has been updated. Players should note there is a change to the wall near the board that may be of great interest to some residents.
Sam Winchester | Arrival Day 28
Closed to Dean [Lost and Found]
Where the hell was he now?]
DEAN!
[ He had a sinking feeling in his stomach so of course he was screaming.]
no subject
People wake up all sorts of places, so Dean's daily patrol includes the beach, the "graveyard," that still had Claire's body buried in it as far as he knew, and the town itself.
The signs send him to the town hall. Someone put them up.
He hears his brother's voice before he sees him. He speaks to himself first. )
Sammy?
( Sam is the only person that can say his name in such a way, especially when the chips are down.
He speeds up, breaking into a run as he comes around the corner. The town hall comes into view behind his brother who stands, awakened and lost. )
Sam!
( Approaching, he tries to see if Jack is around, maybe behind his beanpole of a brother. He's never heard of people showing up together, but like there's been a pattern up until now. It's been days now. If he could guess, two, three weeks? It's not easy to keep track. He knows he was in the model home for two. And it's -- been two?
He slows to a medium paced walk. No reason to have a dramatic coming together. )
Took you long enough.
no subject
Curiosity and his need for Dean to be real had him walking towards his brother. ]
Took me- Where the fuck are we now? And what did I give you for Christmas when we were kids waiting for Dad to show?
[ Sam wanted so badly to hug Dean but he was scared.]
no subject
The F-word. Well, if Dean's been missing, he'd be this squirrelly. )
The necklace you wanted to give dad that turned out to be the direct line to Chuck.
( Is that the answer he's looking for? Dean comes to a stop just in case. )
And I lifted a Barbie and a baton. You hate Christmas. You hate most holidays. You don't get why I like Horror movies because our life is one long horror movie. You went with Jack to save Bobbie and the other Apocalypse Worlders. Cas and I went to confront Billie.
no subject
Not having to figure out to save the world or stop one or both of them from dying, Sam wasn't going to lie, he had been looking forward to that.
But, Sam's whole body relaxed and he closed the distance to Dean in one stride, pulling him in for a hug, just squeezing, not caring that it might be too tight. ]
I still have the baton... somewhere.
[ his voice is slightly muffled his body hunched.]
Going to fight Billie? You don't remember anything after?
[Sam was dreading the answer... almost ]
oh my god, Bobbie should be Bobby lmao. I had an aunt Bobbie wow. anyway nothing to see here
Dean passed the test and then his brother brings his arms around him, closing the distance between them. it's fine. He can breathe after. That Sam's a Christmas hoarder Dean did not see coming.
After patting his brother's back, he speaks past him, not breaking the Winchester level hug. )
Not from your end of it. We fought Billie. Cas... ( Declared his love and sacrificed himself to the Empty. He doesn't know what he'd told Sam about it - future him. So, he doesn't keep going from there. ) Cas filled in the blanks - well, his side. Cas is here too, Sam. ( He smiles with pride. ) And Jack's God. I'm so frickin' proud, man.
LOL! I read it as Bobby so your good... nothing to see.
Cas, What?
[Sam knows that Cas summoned the Empty because he was happy but not the why ]
Jack did so good, Dean... we got our chance. But why are we here?
nothing at all
Dean skips right past to the second question. )
We don't know. Answers are scarce. And everything we find - doesn't give us more answers. Something Chuck-level that's bringing us all here, keeping the food replenished every day. Fog keeps us all inside the borders. There are about twenty-five of us, just about. ( He notices Sam, though. ) We should get you inside.
no subject
It's not Chuck, is it?
[because that would suck ]
Where is inside? and why did I want to walk into the fog, Dean?
no subject
( His finger springs up, giving an order to his little brother. He is not losing Sam to the fog. )
It does that. Town's out of the reject pile of Stephen King ideas. Come on.
( Briefly, he shrugs off the large winter peacoat that is not his style and drapes it over Sam's shoulders. The green one Sam knows is finally in the wash back at the house. As he guides them, he keeps talking. )
Far as we know, this isn't Chuck. He doesn't have the power, anymore. Right?
( Tell him Chuck stayed stomped. )
no subject
He snaps to attention, giving Dean a mock salute.]
Yes, Dean. Understood.
[ Sam was about to protest but the peacoat, which was totally Sam's style, was warm and smelled like his brother so he took comfort in that while he could. ]
Thanks. [Said softly and with a grateful smile as he let the coat take the chill off. ]
No... We left Chuck on the side of the road. You didn't kill him, Dean. He wanted you to but you... were awesome, man. I was so proud to be your brother. Jack took his power, so as far as I know, he's like us. Which is a good thing. Wait, Jack's not here, right?
[He reaches out to grab his brother's arm in momentary panic. ]

Day 28- After waking up- Home- Closed to Family.
He might be a little loud with the cabinets. ]
no subject
Claire wanders into the kitchen, wounded hand tucked into a thick sweater's sleeve. ]
Hey, are you... oh.
[ She stops, blinks slowly.
That's neither Dean nor Cas. That's Sam.
Well... fuck. If all of them are stuck here, who is left to come rolling in to save them? Shit. Not a place she's wished on any of the boys, truth be told. ]
Coffe's one cabinet over.
[ She pulls herself onto a seat at the kitchen island, lips in a wry, sympathetic smile. Arriving here sucks. ]
no subject
Sam stood quickly, spinning ]
I'm so- [ He abruptly stopped speaking his jaw falling open as stared at Claire. ]
Can I hug you?
[ his voice sounding a bit strangled ]
no subject
Yeah, yeah, bring it in big guy.
[ The casual air is just an act of course. The way she looks at him - glad to see him, heartbroken he's here. Dean, Sam and Cas are better as a unit, but... well, she didn't want any of the boys to get stranded here with her, truth be told. ]
How are you holding up?
no subject
At all.
He pulled back smiling softly at her.]
That's a pretty loaded question but okay, I guess. Does the knot in the pit of your stomach ever go away?
Sorry for the late response <3
[ Ah, who is she kidding - she's never nice.
Claire gives Sam a wry smile. ]
It's gonna go away - just... probably to be replaced with worse. This place is messed up, and it's not as easy as finding a thing and ganking it. Trust me... I tried.
no subject
He makes his way into the kitchen, fully prepared to give a lecture if it's Claire making the noise or a sarcastic remark if it happens to be Dean ruffling around here like some sort of animal.
He's not expecting Sam Winchester, of all people, and his eyes widen as he takes in the sight of the youngest Winchester.]
Sam?
no subject
He walks toward the Angel stopping in front of him. His fingers flex because he is itching to pull in for a bear hug but he resists. ]
Castiel, it is so good to see you, man. I missed the crap out of you. I- I never thought I would see you again.
no subject
He smiles, shrugging.]
Yes, well. Here I am. It's good to see you, too. Did Dean bring you here?
[He has a lot of questions he wants to ask, but he figures it's best to stick to the easier ones for the time being.]
no subject
He went around the counter and pulled Cas in for a bracing hug. ]
I didn't get to say goodbye. [he pulled back reluctantly. ]
Yeah, he did. You okay with that?
no subject
He claps him on the shoulder reassuringly when pulling back, offering the younger Winchester an apologetic smile.]
I know, and I'm sorry for that. [He regrets not being able to say goodbye to all of them, his found family; he wishes he could have had that chance. But he'll never regret getting to speak his truth, nor sacrificing himself to save Dean, and, frankly, if he only could say goodbye to one of them, he's glad it was Dean, in the end.]
I'm glad Dean found you. [He tilts his head in confusion when Sam asks if he's okay with Dean bringing him here.] Of course, Sam. Why wouldn't I be?
no subject
Well, I wasn't sure with Claire here. You might not want to deal with me on top of everything else, you know? How are you, doing?
no subject
Sam. There's room for all of us here. And I know Dean's delighted to have you here, as I am. It's good to have you here, Sam.
