RECOMMENDED ♫ Deadly Avenger "Creeper"

DAY 062
THAT MOMENT OF EXPERIENCE“A story has no beginning or end: arbitrarily one
chooses that moment of experience from which to
look back or from which to look ahead.”
— Graham Greene
The day begins like any other might. The clouds occasionally part to give glimpses of the sun, offering a bit of hope that the hours might pass without incident. It is a hope that is soon dashed, however, for midday brings with it a suddenly darkening sky. Those near the beach will be able to see the ocean churning as all light seems to be bled from the day, the sky darkening into a purplish-black more quickly than is natural, the process taking a mere ten minutes from start to finish.
And then it begins.
The rain is so heavy and pouring so fast that the ground cannot take it all in, sending rivers down streets and leaving lawns as lakes. The winds blow in gusts so strong that they could knock someone over, and the lightning that arcs brightly through the sky is immediately followed by thunder that shakes the town to its core, the tremors almost reminiscent of the earthquakes that plagued the town only days ago.
For some, the storm will be another nuisance of mother nature, forcing them to remain wherever they were before its sudden approach. But for others, it will be far more than that, for this storm is seeking revenge on those who sought to destroy the town. Destruction will rain down and it will not stop until its vengeance is satisfied.THE NEW ARRIVALS
The newest arrivals to Mathias will wake up on the beach near The Grey Gull. It's a bit chilly out with their wet clothes, but surely there's something to help warm them inside the restaurant. If nothing else, the cowboys' homemade moonshine should do the trick.ABOUT THE STORM
The storm will begin at midday and last until late into the night, only calming in the early hours of the morning. The heavy rain will flood the streets, though it will not be enough to flood the buildings themselves (except as noted below), and the winds and thunder will shake the town with such strength that it will almost seem as if the town is trying to tear itself apart.
But this is not a simple storm. For those residents who took part in any way in the destruction of the Town Hall, History Museum, or Stoker Park house, they will find the storm will destroy their shelter in some fashion. This can include broken windows, caved-in roofs, flooding from the rain, or even lightning striking the building. The details are up to player choice but something will be damaged by the storm.— All damage to buildings will be repaired by the dawn of the following day as if it never happened at all. There is no way to witness this process taking place.
— If a resident is sheltering in a shared living space with others who did not take part in the destruction of the town, you may choose to have only your character's section of that location damaged. However...
— The storm's focus will follow the resident if they move to another area or location, meaning that the new location will also suffer damage in some way.
— Only those who took part in the town destruction in some way will be targeted by the storm, but innocent bystanders can be caught up in the situation as well.

— THE WEATHER conditions remain fairly typical for early fall: warm days and cool nights. It feels almost like spring arriving except that there fewer red and orange leaves on the ground and more of them oddly returning to the trees and slowly fading to green. It's like watching one of those nature documentaries that have a timelapse of the seasons, only it's going in reverse.
— THE FOG has retreated from some areas!— Residents may now wander the southern stretch of the forest surrounding Mathias Township — it is possible to leave the paths but potentially unwise to do so.
— The fog has also retreated farther into the western section of town, now stretching across town between Stine Road and Shelley Drive. This has revealed the Chasm in the earth that stretches from one side of town to the other between Stine and Hill Lane.
— Access to the northern section of the forest is still blocked beginning a few dozen yards past the treeline; this section of fog will urge residents to stay huddled within the town proper by inducing a physical reaction of panic and fear.
— DISAPPEARANCES continue! Ellie has vanished while others have returned.
— ALCOHOL supplies have run dry, save for any dregs that have been squirreled away by individual residents. Moonshine can still be acquired by those in desperate need.

— NEW MAP Thanks so much to Scy for this amazing new map of Mathias!
— PROJECT HELP Your mod needs help with some projects!
— PART II The next part of the log series will be have characters divided up (by OOC choice, not IC) into groups, so be sure to sign up for one asap. Anyone who doesn't make the deadline will be automatically assigned to an available spot.
— UPDATES Don't forget to report updates as they come up! Changes to locations (like toppling a few bookshelves in the library), big plots you have coming up that will affect the game (parties, major property destruction, etc), or exciting discoveries that may tie into the game's mythology (even the things provided by the mod) are very helpful to have in one place so relevant page updates can be made. IC events are also helpful to know about in advance so they can be included in the log write-ups.
— MOD STATUS The usual reminder that it's just Amy steering this ship, so things will are going to be pretty slow for a while. Apologies in advance, and please don't feel shy about pestering me if you're stuck waiting for something. (All outstanding matters will be taken care of in the next few days!)
i do what i want 💅
elena's been determined to get elijah a suit that somewhat fits him (she knows that it won't be tailored exactly, but something that fits his frame and makes him look a little more like himself and comfortable would do) and she's been doing her best to try and find the perfect one. mathias has had moments of trying to thwart her, what with snow, diaries, and various other weather events, but she's determined. she's elena fucking gilbert, and if she wants to get elijah a suit, she's going to get him one.
she sets out in the early morning to go to one of the houses along west phillips drive. she goes into a couple of them with the sky looking promising—a little gloomy, but with the glimpses of the sun, she thinks it'll be a good day.
she doesn't notice when the sky grows dark by midday. after finally finding a suit in what she hopes is elijah's size (it is), she rifles through the closets for another one (no luck). when she ventures to the front door. it's pissing down rain. that's not promising; in fact, it looks like the sun is gone and the clouds are growing angrier and angrier.
waiting an hour (and rifling through the closets for some more clothes, this time for her), elena has a duffel bag packed with shoes (for herself and a pair of dress shoes for elijah that are scuffed at the toe), some clothing for her (more jeans and jackets) and a blazer with worn elbows for elijah. she ensures to tuck his suit inside of the duffel bag and let some of the jeans and shirts she's pinched for herself hang over her arm. she doesn't want that suit getting wet.
it continues to rain. the winds howl against the windows. elena doesn't want to stay inside of this house without elijah. she'd told him she'd be just a few hours, and she knows if she's any later, he's going to give her that Disappointed Elijah Look™ that'll make her feel bad for trying to go out and supply them with a few new items fo clothing. all she wants is the Elijah is Happy Smile™.
by the time she slogs her way back to the boarding house, she's drenched to the bone. her hair sticks to the back of her neck, her shoulders and her forehead. the clothes in her arms are soaked through and the clothes in the duffel bag are no doubt dripping with all the water she thinks she's now carrying in addition to the clothes she's pinched.
despite doing her best to try and shake the water off, she's sopping wet and leaves a thick trail of it along the main hall leading to their room. when she gets to their door, she only opens it, and is pleasantly surprised to find elijah inside. a little jealous he's dry, too. ]
Do you think you can get me a dry towel?
[ she peers down at herself as she drops the duffel bag rather unceremoniously at her feet. she looks at herself and how her clothes stick to her uncomfortably. carding her hand through her hair, she peels it off from sticking against her forehead and nose, and looks at him rather pathetically. ]
I think I might need ten.
no subject
the rain is still coming down in sharp sheets and he's made the decision to actually go out and find elena when she finally comes through the door. at first, he just stares at her because she's so wet, soaked to the bone, shivering and looking pathetic and miserable.
he doesn't even see the bag in her hands because he's so surprised by how she looks. the momentary stillness only lasts for a few seconds before he grabs a towel and steps forward to wrap it around her shoulders. )
Elena.
( her name is the only thing that he can get out. he has questions on why she was out for so long but right now, he's just focused on trying to get her somewhat dry and warm. )
no subject
[ can he not see how soaked through she is? anyway, it's her attempt to inject some humour into a rather wet (ha) situation. she grips the edges of the towel and wraps it around herself before she grabs the ends and wipes her face. it at least makes her feel a little dry. ]
So, [ she says it with her face in the towel as she tries to scrub away the rain from her forehead. ] I wouldn't go outside. It's raining—a lot.
[ hire her as a weather girl, stat! ]
no subject
( he takes her by the shoulders and leads her over to the bed, sitting her down. once she's there, he grabs another towel and hands it to her before he sits down beside her.
he gives her a few seconds to take the towel and dry off before he looks over at her. )
What were you doing out there for so long, Elena?
no subject
with the towel now in her hair, she doesn't care that she rubs her head so hard that she's bound to cause knots. all she wants is the water gone!
with the towel over her head and covering her face, she points in the direction of the door. the duffel bag remains where it is, a small lake appearing around it. the clothes she had on her arms are piled unattractively on the bag's side. ]
I was getting some clothes.
no subject
( they both had clothes, didn't they? what was there a need for clothes for. elijah sighs, rubbing his brow and watching her. despite the towels, she still looks like she's going to catch hypothermia. )
What were you getting clothes for?
( he has to hear this before he reacts. )
no subject
I... wanted to get some clothes for the changing weather.
[ after all, the seasons were changing. what she had was distinctly winter gear.
she busies herself with looking down at her arms and wiping them with the towel. ]
And I may have found you something.
no subject
( he stares at her, uncertain if he'd heard her right in that she'd gone out to get him clothes. he might not really care for the wardrobe that he has but they're fine, they work. )
Why? I have clothes.
( he has plenty of clothes. it's not like there's a reason to be fashionable in mathias. )
no subject
Can you get the bag? I would, but I think I've tracked enough water into our room to create a small kiddie pool.
[ she makes it a point to wipe at her thighs. her jeans are plastered to her like a second skin. ]
no subject
( he doesn't need her showing off clothes that are undoubtedly soaking wet when she still looks like a drowned rat. he ignores the bag, giving his head a shake. )
You need to change.
( sitting there in the wet clothes was helping no one. )
no subject
[ it's fine, she'll go and get the bag. she stands, places the towel in her hands onto her chair and tries to spread it out so it can soak up the water she's left behind, and keeps the towel slung over her shoulders. she wanders to the open door, drags the bag inside with her extra clothes piled on top of it, and closes the door.
then she begins to peel off her shoes and socks. ]
Did you go outside? It's raining really hard.
no subject
( from the looks of it, she'd been outside much, much longer than he'd been outside. they're very lucky that there is heat in the room and that it's not freezing cold or they'd have some big issues. )
This is strange rain. I watched it destroy a window.
( and he doesn't think that even sideways rain is capable of doing that. water's strong but not in droplets of the likes that's happening now. )
no subject
[ every other window is up for being destroyed, however!
elena wanders over to the set of drawers containing her collection of clothes and tugs it open, rifling through it for a comfortable shirt and jeans. she also digs for a bra and panties—there's really no point in trying to be warm when she's still wearing wet clothes. ]
Our window's had enough excitement to last your lifetime.
no subject
( she will because she's stubborn and headstrong but he sighs as he watches her do it. he's not going to try and stop her now that she's doing it but he still...wishes he could help. )
It's not going to destroy our window.
( don't ask him how he knows that. he just...knows it. he wants to believe it. )
no subject
Turn around. I don't want to catch the flu and the longer I stay in these…
[ he knows the rest. he may not be susceptible to the flu, but she sure is. knowing mathias, she most likely has a certain amount of time before she does freeze over and become a shadow monster herself.
besides, she wants to get out of her clothes so she can feel warm and good about herself. ]
no subject
( sighing, elijah turns around, crossing his arms and waiting for her to change. he's not going to catch the flu and he's not going to catch a cold. right now, he just wants her to change so she's the one that doesn't get sick. )
I forgot you were so very modest.
( that's the barest hint of a tease. )
no subject
[ she pulls her jeans down her legs—with difficulty, they're very, very wet—and her shirt up and over her head. picking up her towel, she tries to dry herself again—but it's a little difficult to, what with it being damp and all from her hair and face. ]
Elena Modest Gilbert. And yours is Elijah Super Annoying Mikaelson.
no subject
( because she'd use it against him and she's never let him forget. so, she was just going to be elijah to her. )
Why am I being super annoying?
( he was being helpful. )
no subject
[ even though he can't see her with his back to her, she tilts her head up and pokes her tongue out at him. two can play at this game. she wipes down her legs as best she can, feeling like she's just rubbing water against water at this point. ]
That seems fair to me.
no subject
( he turns his head just slightly but doesn't look back, still giving her the privacy she desires. )
You'll probably wonder about my middle name for quite some time.
( and maybe she'd eventually get it out of him if she was persistent enough. )
no subject
[ crinkling her face, she shakes her head. none of those sound particularly nice. elena pulls her panties down her legs and kicks them off, and steps into her dry ones almost immediately, only glancing at him once to make sure he's not pulling a damon. ]
Bernard? You're so a Bernard.
no subject
( they would be here forever. everything around them would continue as elena tried to guess his middle name. )
So, I'd advise you to just forget about it, Elena.
no subject
[ now, with her jeans tugged up to her hips, she unclips her bra and slips on a new one. humming happily, she can't say she likes that name a tall. it's too... ugly. not at all classic like him. ]
There's no way your middle name is Michael. Elijah Michael Mikaelson? You might as well have been called Mike Michael Mikaelson.
no subject
( because even if she happened to hit the right name, he wasn't going to tell her that. )
If this is what you want to do, feel free. I'll take a nap.
no subject
[ she wrinkles her nose at that. too many "sons" in that name. she tugs her shirt over her head and tugs her wet hair out. maybe she should've tried to dry that a little better, considering it's now clinging to her back.
taking this moment to eye his back, elena turns and crosses her arms against her chest. ]
I bet it's a really old and forgotten name. You seem really ancient.
