DAYS 030-032
A CHANGE IN CIRCUMSTANCES
The day after the earthquake dawns like any other in Mathias Township. The sky is a light winter grey, clouds obscuring even a hint of true sunlight, and snow falls off and on in dustings that rest atop the piles left from the storm a few days past. The air is bitterly cold, a gentle wind feeling like ice in the sub-freezing temperatures, and residents should be grateful that the earthquake didn't do more damage than just breaking a few household objects.
It seems like business as usual. It will not be until the second day that residents will begin to notice the difference.
The General Store's shelves have not been restocked. Items in kitchens have not replenished in the passing night. Food from the previous day has aged as normal, and as the days continue to pass, things will begin to grow stale or become moldy as they would in the outside world. Two days pass, three, four... Still, the food does not return.
Perhaps rationing should be considered.NEW ARRIVALS
The newest arrivals to Mathias will wake on the snowy beach near the Grey Gull restaurant. They should probably hurry inside and get warmed up before hypothermia sets in or something finds them out in the cold...DAYS 033-034
IN THE NIGHT, IN THE DARK
These days, too, seem to be simply more of the same. The days are cold and grey, the food does not replenish, and they continue to be trapped in this eerie town. But when night falls, the story changes.
An hour after sunset, it begins. Scratching sounds at walls, like something searching for a way inside. The ominous feeling of something out there in the darkness, moving through the town, stalking through the night. The inability to find any sign of something being there at all. It's enough to make anyone feel like they're going mad. To happen just one night, it could be a fluke, a trick of the mind as so many things here seem to be. But to happen a second night, with more intensity... There is something there, or they are going mad.
It's hard to know which to hope for.

DAY 035
THE HUNT
This day is not like the others. There is something in the air, a dreadful anticipation that rises inside them all as the hours pass. Every moment that brings them closer to nightfall brings it closer too — if only they knew what it was.
An hour after sunset, the Hunt begins.
Those who are outside at this time are gripped by such terror that they can do nothing but run and be chased. They are prey and the predators that stalk them with steadfast determination are creatures never meant to be seen by mortal eyes. All lights outside go out, from streetlamps to flashlights, and the world descends into deeper darkness, only the clouded moonlight and curtained glow from illuminated houses lighting their way as they flee.
Those who are inside at this time are trapped in their safe havens. No doors or windows can be opened from within, nothing can be broken or forced, and they can do nothing but wait and listen while their friends and neighbors are pursued by creatures whose very presence they can feel in their bones and whose growls echo in the night, entwined with the screams of their victims.
In the thick darkness, these creatures appear little more than shadows, large and looming, deadly and unknown, but in rare glimpses in scattered pieces of light, the Hunted are met with a sight they cannot comprehend and will never be able to properly describe or fully remember, for these creatures cannot be fathomed within the limits of the human mind.
The Hunt lasts for one hour exactly and then the creatures vanish into the darkness, leaving only fear and death in their wake.ABOUT THE HUNT
— Players may choose to have their resident be one of the Hunted or a Witness to the Hunt. None are exempt from the the Hunt and all will be affected by it in some way.
— Those who are hunted must flee the creatures or they will die. The Hunted may move throughout the town at any speed, for the creatures may choose to move both quickly or slowly, but the creatures will always inevitably find them. The only escape is to seek shelter — the creatures will not enter a building where living people are, but they will follow the Hunted into buildings where there are no other living people.
— Those who are trapped within buildings at the start of the Hunt are unable to open doors and windows from within, but the Hunted may open them from outside in order to take shelter in these safe havens.
— Those who are hunted are unable to fight back against the creatures until the moments just before their death. This is due the creatures only having physical form in these final moments, rendering any attacks against them useless, whether they be physical, magical, or psychic in nature. Attempts may be made in those moments before death, but by then it is too late — the prey has been caught.
— When one of the Hunted is caught, there is no escaping, there is only screaming in madness as death falls painfully upon them. No one can come to their aid and their body will be found afterward, the bloody remains ripped and torn apart by something that cannot be identified. Large sprays and pools of blood stain the area around the corpse, turning the snow sickening shade of crimson that darkens as the hours pass.
— After the creatures have vanished, there are no signs of them to be found in the snow. There are no tracks or marks of any kind save for the carnage of the fresh kill.
— Those who have been sacrificed to the Hunt will revive two days later on Day 037. The conditions in which they revive will be detailed later, but there will be only minor lasting physical damage from the Hunt.
— The Hunted will lose 5 points of sanity. Those Witnesses who find the corpses will lose 2 points of sanity, or 3 points if they are not unaccustomed to this type of sight. Others who are merely Witnesses to the sounds of Hunt may choose to lose 1 point of sanity as a result of the experience.

CONDITIONS UPDATE — THE WEATHER is fairly typical of a northern winter. The sky is almost always grey, the temperature is below freezing during the day (and colder at night), and a light snow falls intermittently. The sun sets early in the evening. Residents should bundle up when going outside and not venture too far into the dark night...
— THE FOG remains blocking the paths in the forest beginning a few dozen yards past the treeline, urging residents to stay huddled within the town proper, and it also now blocks the northern section of town, beginning just past Hill Lane, before where residents know the chasm in the earth to be between Hill and Stine Road. Venturing into the fog is ill-advised.
— DISAPPEARANCES continue. Sherlock Holmes is still missing, and Phil Coulson, John Constantine, Zed Martin, and Helen Magnus have vanished as well.OOC NOTES — FOOD will be restocked in some fashion in the next full log, don't worry. We aren't going full survival mode yet.
— DAY 036 The next log will cover Day 36 only and will include the locations of deaths and any corpse burials that occur the night of Day 35 or are planned for Day 36. (There will be prompts included for both the "living" and the "dead" in this single day log.) Please submit all information by Wednesday, Feb 17.
— MOD STATUS It's mostly just Amy steering this ship for now, so things will probably be pretty slow for a while. Apologies in advance, and please don't feel shy about pinging me if you're stuck waiting for something.

1. creatures never meant to be seen by mortal eyes ...... well. This super doesn't apply to her. IDK if that is factoring at all into the amt of sanity loss for the Hunted? Wanted to double check. Maybe she gets to keep some points for not even having the option of seeing fjdskljdf
2. IDK if this will work.... although it could probably be argued due to the way the Entities in her world work (and lord am I ever glad you have Reference for that lmfao) and how kind of.... once you're like ~touched~ by an Entity, even if you escape it you aren't necessarily ever The Same after the fact. ALL THIS IS TO SAY: Melanie + The Slaughter. Is there any wiggle room here to say that being Hunted might awaken some latent part of it that still calls to her (even though those entities aren't here, obviously)?

- Greenhouse question! Can I assume common flower/herb/basic vegetable seeds can be found? (ie marigolds, lavender, basil, mint, tomato and lettuce..)
- Hunting questions! Will it follow the hunted into the ocean?
- If Yen reaches out with her magic, to try and get a feel for the creature, would she be able to learn something about it, or is this resoundingly ill-advised?
- If one were to keep portalling away from it, is it possible to outrun it until the Hunt ends, or will it not stop until it catches up?
- Alternatively, is it possible to portal directly into an occupied building, or must they be entered through the front door?
Thanks so much!!

Characters involved: Doc Holliday and Ellie
Link to thread: Adding later
Additional details: On the morning of Day 31, Doc will tell Ellie about what he found under 1307 with Raylan on Day 29. They will look for the entrance into the underground network from 1304, probably going to start by looking for the ladder or some rope in the house and checking within two or three feet of these objects instead of stomping on all the floorboards (but will do the latter if there is no ladder or rope or climbing gear to be found in plain sight)

Bucky Barnes | MCU
Arrival - Day 30
This is new. It's a very slow realization, one that Bucky can only subconsciously think while his eyes are still closed and his body stays heavy from whatever state was needed to move him from where he was to the place he is now. In his fragmented mind, he knows that he's moved. He remembers saying goodbye to Steve before seeing his best friend at his true age. Then things went totally black and he could hear the disjointed words.
Bucky, grab my hand!
It's the same memory he always has, the one that plays out more than any of the others. Only it's not just the memory, this time. Bucky can feel the cold underneath him and hear the sound of water lapping quietly, rushing up and touching the side of his face in perfect rhythm until it's broken by the sound of footsteps, crunching through the snow loudly. There's a voice but he can't make out what he's saying...
โ Boarding House - Day 30 - Open to anyone living here
He's been told that he can stay at the boarding house, but when he reaches the door, Bucky stops and stares at the vertical surface in front of him before looking around unsurely. Once he's done weighing whether he should knock first or just walk in, he pushes it open and steps in, stopping just far enough in to close the door.
Standing there, he spends a couple of minutes looking around, listening while tilting his head to look deeper into the rooms off the main foyer of the house. Somehow he feels like if he walks any further that he may startle someone so he waits there, perhaps looking even a bit awkward.
Once he's claimed a room on the third floor, it's in the early morning hours that Bucky quietly sets out to really check out the house. Half because it's late and there's a better chance of exploring the place without bumping into someone and half because he's a bit hungry.

Eliot Spencer | Leverage
Day 031 - 032 OTA
[The food hasn't replenished.
Still being new to this town, the concept of food just replenishing is pretty new to him. Honestly, he really was expecting that one day it would just stop. Except now that it finally has, they're in for some serious problems if they don't get this sorted. If the food truly doesn't come back, their survival is measured in weeks once the last scrap of food is eaten. If they can be smart about this, they have a chance of extending that literal deadline longer.
Eliot can be found puttering around town, searching every nook and cranny he can find. He does his best to leave no stone unturned, literally, He's taking notes, and trying to find places to hoard food, and separate it out based on the number of people in town.
You might find him searching, taking notes, or going in and out of the Grey Gull muttering to himself. Sometimes he's lucky and he can find a package of saltines that someone's missed or a bag of jerky tucked under his arm.]
B.
All right, listen up.
[It sounds like he's gathered in front of a large group of people but it seems like he's simply tracked down you, in particular.
Good luck.]
If we don't get our act together we're in for a world of hurt. So there ain't any negotiation on this. We either do this, or we all die. Got it?
[He's just. Very intense.]
Now. Are you hoarding chocolate or not?
[It really looks like he might beat someone up for chocolate.]

Dean Winchester | Supernatural
Days 030 and 031 | Open
( On day thirty, Dean wakes up early, deciding to make the town rounds. Between 8 and 9, anyone out and about could see Dean throughout the town, down by the beach, crossing the makeshift graveyard and by the outskirts of the trees.
Returning to 1301, he collects his bag of cleaning supplies (and an iron firepoker just in case), and also carries his record player to The Grey Gull.
He does two more rounds, at 2 and 6, a flashlight in hand when he needs it and a kitchen knife concealed in his waistband at the back. Just because he was stripped of his gun and his knife doesn't make he hasn't made what he's found work.
Day 31, he does the same, his daily patrols pretty fixed and on schedule. )
The Fix-Up
( On Day 30, Dean plugs in the record player around 9AM. Dropping the spindle down, one of Zeppelin's best albums comes to life as Dean gets to work. He had help planned, but by 9:30, it seems that he will not be joined today. Day 30 is about sanitizing the main bar area. He starts with the floor, moves to the tables, chairs, and then the bar and the shelves behind the bar. He's brought one bottle of moonshine to as to showcase something.
Day 31, he focuses on the kitchen area early. If people are going to be using this place to drink and eat, it should all be up to code. He washes the glasses, wipes down the equipment and even takes an hour deep cleaning the oven.
Dean likes a project and with the Grey Gull he's found one.
Today, his music is more Asia than Zeppelin. But, you may catch him turning it off after a certain song is played. He was told all about the song that wouldn't die that Tuesday. Don't mind him while he switches it up to some Blue Oyster Cult. He likes his classic rock. It's true. Miss him with the hair metal, please. By the end of Day 31, he'll be working on the stairs next, mopping them. He's got a system in place. )

Day 31-33 (open and closed) Will Match Style
(Sam knew he needed to get out of the house and he couldn't avoid everyone until the marks around his neck from Bucky went away. Something felt different about today, however, and Sam couldn't pinpoint it and it was making his skin crawl.
He headed to the library, hoping that he would find something... anything that would help them figure out what the hell was going on. )
2.Bookstore (closed to Neal)
(Sam stepped into the bookstore, fully expecting something straight out of Harry Potter. He's fully expecting wands and wizards but is pleasantly surprised by the dusty books and the rustic smell of books.
Sam wanders around, running his fingers over the books on the shelves, familiarizing himself with the many titles. There were not as many as are in the bunker, but at least he doesn't need a legend to find anything in here.)

Day 35
Raylan Givens | Justified
Most of these will be OTA, find him anywhere or hit me up on plurk or on the plotting post for somethin specific!
Day 30 and 31
[Raylan and Doc had been saved by the New Yorkers and the Marshal had promised that nary a negative word about the people from that city would pass his lips again - give him a few days and that might not stick - but as soon as they got back to the house and the fuss of them being gone dealt with, Raylan hit the showers, got a new bottle of moonshine and wordlessly headed out back, dragging a chair with him.
Yup. There's where you'll find him, even after dark falls but left to his own devices, he'd be back on the patio a few hours after sundown, possibly with a fresh bottle to nurse.]
Day 31 โบ
[Having promised Dean that he would make up his share of the work he missed doing, Raylan had shucked off his jackets and rolled up his sleeves, finding shelves to unload and wipe down as they slowly went through and sanitized everything. He had hoped that Dean would wait since they'd agreed to do it together, but Dean hadn't and Raylan couldn't blame him. For all Dean knew, Raylan had just fallen off the map.
Still, he'd make up his work. He needed the work, the project, the something to take care of, even if he was late and probably shit at this too. It was something productive that he could put his hands to and see a result of the hard work immediately.
At least he wasn't drinking yet.]
[Later:
The cleaning had helped, but Raylan was still more restless than he knew what to do with and inevitably, he ended up with a bottle of moonshine in his hand. Instead of the porch of 1306 though, Raylan and his hat went to the beach to sit down in the sand and watch the water. He hadn't been back here since they found John and the others dead, but he thought he could sit here without hearing the echoes of Klaus's grief echoing over the sands at him.
The waves lapping was nice and accompanied his goal of doing nothing but sitting under open sky for a few hours and get drunk.]

Doc Holliday | Wynonna Earp
Day 31 @ Ellie
He doesn't seem overly shaken or irreparably broken when he knocks on their door but he can't quite muster up a forced smile or any sort of small talk when Ellie lets him in, muttering a quiet 'thanks' and slipping in past her, returning automatically to that spot he likes to stand in behind the couch, sitting on the backrest.
"Ellie," he starts, so rarely addressing her without a 'Miss' prefix, "I uh... came to talk to you. What you were thinking, about there being underground passages. You were right." He's starting to get stressed just talking about it, unable to keep completely still, one hand rubbing the ring on the other.

John Carter | ER
Day 30-32 | ota
[So obviously he's here to stay. At least for now, that much is clear. And as dreadful as that is, it also means Carter needs to get organized.
First thing he does is making sure people know he's available. So town hall it is and a note with his contact info on the bulletin board it is. He feels a bit better when it's up, like he's won the tiniest amount of agency back in his life.
Except he stares at the second note for a while.
Can someone teach him magic. It's so stupid. His hand comes up several times and he seriously contemplates taking it down again. But in the end he just sighs, leaving it right there. What's the worst that could happen? Being ridiculed for his magical attempts? Been there, done that.]
ii. cramming at the library (Days 30-32)
[After a week in Mathias, Carter knows two things for sure: 1. He is in so way over his head, oh God, and 2. he really needs to figure out a way how not to be.
Dr. Greene's words are a steady companion these days. People come in here and they're sick and dying and bleeding, and they need our help. And helping them is more important than how we feel. Well, Carter feels a lot. Like, a lot, but the mantra helps, being a doctor about this helps because it gives him something to focus on, to redirect his energy away from panicking and onto the situation at hand.
Not that his attempts have been very successful, he has one failed sacrifice to pove that. Well, it was his first try. Except he can see Benton's forbidding glare, crossing his arms. Your first try, huh? You think your patient has time to wait for you to get it right eventually?
No, no he doesn't. It's already so much. Magic mirror attacks. People with alien DNA making their own body shake until their bones broke. And no hospital equipment. No x-rays, no blood gas, not even a damn crash cart. How is he supposed to deal with that? To help people like that?
Well, that's what he's trying to figure out. Trying to make a plan. Maybe there's magical x-ray vision? Some rituals that could get the heart started again if you had nothing to shock it with? He doesn't know but this is an emergency situation and he needs solutions and he knows that sometimes you just had to improvise. This isn't all that different from using a balloon pen or paperclips in the field, right? Except with... magic. Yeah.
So here he is, studying. He's used to cramming and that's obviously what he's doing. There are stacks of books surrounding him and he's taking notes, muttering to himself (sometimes hiding his face behind his hands to focus). There's some long cold coffee next to him that he sips from time to time. But hey, luckily there's no librarian around to tell him drinks aren't allowed. ]

Klaus Hargreeves | The Umbrella Academy
Days 030-032
Finding Daisy's note leaves a bitter taste in the back of his mouth. At least she had the forward-thought to leave one, to let them know where she was, so they wouldn't think she disappeared again. Or worse. This place was so good at worse. But she was a sort of cornerstone in this house for him, and now she was gone. People were dying or disappearing all the time and it was... concerning. Disheartening.
He huffs softly as he sinks into a chair at the kitchen table, with a cup of coffee between his hands; later in the evening, one might find him perched on the couch downstairs with a notebook, idly sketching something in the pages.
II. General Store [OTA]
The first day, it's not that noticeable, but as the days draw on, the shelves look more and more bare and that.... that is concerning. He came here almost daily, stocking up on various snacks, cigarettes, and other odds-and-ends. So the lack of reupped food and supplies is a stark contrast of the last....however long it is that he's been here. Two weeks? He's not exactly sure.
"Well, shit." he declares to one in particular as he stands and stares at a half-empty shelf on the canned goods aisle.
III. Other [OTA]
Though he isn't one of your more investigative sorts, Klaus still manages to go wandering around a little from time to time. One might find him somewhere between the boarding house and 1306 Phillips Drive, or he might stop by the botanical shop. He could probably be found almost anywhere, it's idle wandering familiar parts of the town and winding his way home before it gets too dark.

So here he is, ringing the bell on her door, then knocking for good measure. He at least brought his own drawing supplies--a large pad of paper and a set of pencils, tucked into a shoulder bag he stole from one of the empty houses.

Negan | The Walking Dead
Days 30-32 | OTA
Never one for being idle, Negan can be seen out and about. He stops by the general store to grab a couple things, he can be seen wandering around for a walk to either clear his head or keep an eye out for anything odd... hard to not do that nowadays, even if patrols don't seem necessary. He'll give a neighborly wave or nod towards anyone that he recognizes.
Later one, he winds up at the library to peruse the selection. "Man, some of this shit is old, isn't it?"
But even if it's mostly old shit, it's a novelty. Books aren't exactly a priority back home, generally speaking. More important things to scavenge.
31-32
When he starts noticing the food isn't replenishing like it usually does, Negan feels fear twisting in the pit of his stomach more than he wants to let on. He wanders the General Store, fingertips idly brushing over emptier-than-usual shelves.
"Is it just me, or is this place drying up?" Despite the question, he doesn't seem to be directing it at anyone in particular, just thinking out loud.
"What, did the goddamn earthquake make it impossible to get us some more food? Mess up some magic mojo going on?" He huffs to himself, a muscle in his jaw tightening as frustration sets in.
Well, fuck. This isn't looking good, if the food doesn't start coming back real goddamn soon.

Jaime Lannister | asoiaf
[ plotting | cr ]
When he blinks awake, it is the sea he sees first. The sea as he knows it, long and low and gray, and it would be familiar if it were not surrounded by white. He blinks again and the white does not clear, so he lies still for a moment, trying to remember when the beach had come to look this way. This is not the shore of Casterly Rock, with its high cliffs and sunset waters. Neither is it any of the beaches of Kingโs Landing, most of which would have been crowded with people. This one is empty; it is only him and the breath he can see streaming from his nose. It takes him a puzzled moment more to realize his face is cold โ when was the last time he felt cold?
He picks himself up, and when his hand falls to the hilt of his sword, it lands upon empty air instead. A glance down finds the sheath, and the swordbelt itself knotted at his waist, and his scaled armor intact. But no sword, and when he turns a slowly-panicking circle to search the snow at his feet, it is not there, either. How is it snowing? It did not snow on either coast that he called home. Only much farther north, much farther than he ever had occasion to roam. If he thinks to find his bearings, they do not come: there is the sea stretching out before him, and white lapsing off to either side. Another disoriented circle turned, an aggravating bristle at the nape of his neck to think he has been robbed of his sword - while he lay here, for gods only knew how long? โ and then he spiesโฆ a tavern?
Itโs made of wood and would appear well-worn, so he gives it only a cursory once-over before he begins hiking across the snow-covered ground. An ungainly gait for weather he is least accustomed to, as if the cotton-soft snow might have turned the earth itself soft. It has not, it holds each step he gives it until he has reached the porch, and he finds himself warily studying the exterior of the place. Not a stop-over he knows. It does not seem that anyone, for some time, has much cared for how the place looks, but he feels himself shiver even within his armor, so he ducks inside, ready to behold the vagabonds who must have stolen his sword and left him for dead. Why, then, is there no tell-tale pounding in his head, no smattering of blood to indicate he had been taken unawares, no sign that he has fought at all?
Nothing anywhere to tell him anything, and he would have begun to wonder what errand he had originally been sent on, how far deep into the riverlands or the stormlands he had veered, if he had not been preoccupied entirely with locating his lost weapon.
no subject
Sometimes, he needs a project to keep his mind going, but also to keep his mind wandering. It's like fixing up Baby, his Impala. But, this isn't his to claim. It's just his to clear.
And by Chuck, sanitize.
When Jaime stumbles in, he doesn't find his sword or anything that might have been taken from him. Dean's duffel sits open on a table a few feet away and a record player plugged in on top of the bar plays a Zeppelin song โซ.
Dean comes out of the kitchen eyes closed as he fails at singing falsetto, drumming the air. As the cymbal crashes, he opens his eyes.
"Woah, hey there... Renaissance Faire. You have that, just washed up on the beach look."

Melanie King | The Magnus Archives
Days 030-032
Melanie prefers having someone along to make sure she doesn't get the wrong things, but she wasn't here for much today, beyond some rice and a few other easily shelved foods. She had started gathering a stockpile of things with long shelf lives as soon as she heard about the way the food replenished itself. It would be stupid to assume that would last forever, so she figured as long as it was happening, she'd think forward about it at least.
However, today she finds her hand not hitting bags of rice or pasta, but instead the cool metal of the empty shelf. Her voice is little more than a pinched sigh, "Bloody hell."
II. Knock Knock [For
Melanie isn't the most social creature in the world, but the fact remains, Eliot has been a bit of a stable rock for her since she got here. Something about wandering blindly (literally!) into the bloke's house apparently just bonded her to him a bit. She doesn't like having to be even a little dependent on other people, but she does like that at least her neighbor isn't completely insufferable. And Quinten... she doesn't know as much, but he's Eliot's mate, so she figures he must be a good bloke as well.
Time for her to return the favor, though-- she felt a whole lot of empty spaces on those shelves at the store earlier today. Luckily, Melanie knew better than to trust magically replenished food, and had already built a small stockpile of her own. She figures she may as well make sure they have enough to make it through for a bit, so she finds herself tapping on the front door of #818 Stoker Park that afternoon.
