At first, in the calm following the storm, nothing seems amiss. When the residents awake, it is to another glorious morning dawning in the unsettling paradise that is Mathias Township. Indeed, it does seem rather glorious that morning, for there is sunshine in a blue sky that has been cleared of any remnant of the angry storm clouds from the day before. But before long, residents will start to notice signs of something being not quite right.
It should be a familiar sensation to most by now.
It begins as just a feeling, a strange hint of something in the air, a nagging voice at the back of the mind. They can't quite put their finger on it but there is something. Something wrong, something that shouldn't be — which is quite a statement in a town where everything shouldn't be. But then the pieces will begin to come together.
A person has gone who ought to be there. This in itself is not a strange occurrence, for many have vanished and then returned, or not. This time, though, it is one person, and then two and three... A dozen people or more have gone, with no trace of their whereabouts to be found.
No resident is alone, thankfully. There are others who also remain: friends, acquaintances, strangers. Others who are just as trapped in this nightmarish place.
As the hours stretch on and residents begin to venture beyond their self-claimed shelters and move about the town, they will find that their fellow captives are not the only things that have vanished. The Chasm is gone as well, the crack in the earth that once stretched across and cut off the western part of town. There is not even the smallest mark to show where it had once been; it has gone so completely that some might wonder if they had merely imagined it.
ABOUT THE NEW LOCATIONS
POPPY COTTAGE This bed and breakfast has a sense of casual elegance with the elusive quality of being both sophisticated and comfortable at the same time. Aside from being covered in dust and grime, of course.
PENHEW HOUSE Perhaps familiar to some in Mathias, this grand house is different from any of the others the residents have entered. It looks... new. Fresh. Clean. The usual thick layers of dust and grime that would be caked onto every visible surface are nowhere in sight; this absence may be a relief for some and unsettling to others. There are certainly other unsettling things to be found in this location.
THE OLD CHURCH Barely more than ruins, the property is marked by a crumbled stone outline that has no roof and only partial walls, nothing left inside besides a broken cobblestone floor.
BANEBERRY HALL From the outside, Baneberry Hall seems like your average rich person's house, but one would be mistaken to assume anything of the sort. Even the baneberries that cover the back lawn leading to the forest treeline are deceptive, for they appear harmless but are fatal to any human foolish enough to eat them.
The building is decaying from within. The rooms have begun to rot, from the parlors and libraries still done up in grand and expensive style to the bedrooms that have locks on the doors and bars on the windows. There are restraints in some of those bedrooms, while others are bereft of sharp objects. In the hall closets, there are identical sets of white pajamas of all sizes, and the offices have locked cabinets (that may be picked) full of a rainbow of sedatives (that will not replenish). The names on doors and in logbook lists are all smudged beyond legibility, and all paperwork has been water-damaged and weathered, leaving no indication of who may have been kept in those bedrooms or why. But within each room, there is an item that may be familiar to one of the residents now wandering its halls. As caked in dust and grime as anything else, each item is placed as if it belongs there, as if it might have been there for years. But it couldn't have been... could it?ABOUT THE ITEMS FROM HOME
Within the unsettling walls of Baneberry Hall, residents may find OBJECTS that are uncomfortably familiar to them. Each item has one singular memory attached to it that, when touched in any way, will be experienced first hand, as if the person receiving it had lived it themselves. This person will endure all of the associated emotions and psychological reactions to the memory that the memory's owner experienced.— Items may only be found within Baneberry Hall. These items from home are not all in one room or a specific location but instead are scattered throughout the bedrooms. (Only the items on this list are available to this group.)
— Ownership and possession of the item are important elements to this event. While the item is in possession of someone who is not its owner, it will continue to infect all who touch it with the memory that belonged to its owner. The item will also, before long, begin to make the possessor ill, both physically and emotionally uncomfortable and upset. This only occurs until the item is reunited with its owner, or until it is no longer in someone else's possession. (For example, if Person A finds Person B's teddy bear and carries it with them, they will continue to experience the bear's associated memory until they no longer have it in their possession, whether this means they have left it somewhere or it has been returned to Person B.)
— Recipients of memories will retain those memories even after the event has ended.
— When the owner of an item finds their item or has it returned to them, they will also experience the memory once themselves, having it returned to them as if they had just lived those moments again. The memory is only replayed once in their minds and then the memory effect of the object is gone. After this point, the item can be held by the owner or any others without consequence.
— If a person removes an item from its room in Baneberry Hall but does not remove the item from the property entirely, the item will be mysteriously returned to its original location when no one is looking. This is so that people do not have to keep close track of where items are going in the possible changing of hands, so the original owners can still easily locate the item without having to plan in great detail. Once an item is removed from the property, it will not return to its original location even if it is discarded by the possessor before reaching its original owner. Instances such as this should be planned among all involved parties, including the owner of the item.
— Once an item is removed from the property, please comment below so that information may be updated. Items that are not removed by the end of the event may reappear at a later time, so accurate records are essential.
— Before an item's memory is viewed by someone other than the owner, permission must be granted or requested for that memory to be viewed by another character. Because the experience is an uncomfortable one for the other characters, the viewing of memories not their own should ideally be kept to a small number.
— THE WEATHER conditions remain fairly typical for early fall: warm days and cool nights. It feels almost like spring arriving except that there fewer red and orange leaves on the ground and more of them oddly returning to the trees and slowly fading to green. It's like watching one of those nature documentaries that have a timelapse of the seasons, only it's going in reverse.
— THE FOG has new boundaries.— Residents may now wander the southern stretch of the forest surrounding Mathias Township — it is possible to leave the paths but potentially unwise to do so.
— The fog has also retreated from the western section of town entirely.
— Access to the northern section of the forest is still blocked beginning a few dozen yards past the treeline; this section of fog will urge residents to stay huddled within the town proper by inducing a physical reaction of panic and fear.
— DISAPPEARANCES AND DEATHS continue! Yennefer, Number Five, and Tony Stark have vanished and Ellie is still missing, though this may be difficult to tell with half the town also seemingly having vanished. Will Graham's body may be found within the ruins of the Old Church; he appears to have been frightened to death. (If someone decides to take care of the body, please report it below. For in-game reasons, this does not need to be coordinated across groups.)
— ALCOHOL supplies have run dry, save for any dregs that have been squirreled away by individual residents. Moonshine can still be acquired by those in desperate need.
— NEW MAP Thanks so much to Scy for yet another amazing new map of Mathias!
— UPDATES Don't forget to report updates as they come up! Changes to locations (like toppling a few bookshelves in the library), big plots you have coming up that will affect the game (parties, major property destruction, etc), or exciting discoveries that may tie into the game's mythology (even the things provided by the mod) are very helpful to have in one place so relevant page updates can be made. IC events are also helpful to know about in advance so they can be included in the log write-ups.
— MOD STATUS For those who don't know, I run a summer program that is set to start in just 2 weeks. We've only recently been given the green light to go ahead in person, so it's a scramble to get everything pulled together in time. My non-RP life is going to be busy and chaotic for the next while and I am thus asking for your forgiveness and understanding as things continue to be slow, as I cannot guarantee timely mod responses beyond weekends, and even that is not guaranteed.
— NEXT LOG Because of the aforementioned real-life chaos, the next log will be more relaxed and free form with everyone coming back together again and having a few chill days. It would be very much appreciated if some of the more intense investigations could be saved to take place in future logs, as the new locations that are opening up in this log will remain open in the next few at least and there will be plenty of time to explore all their mysteries.
— ITEMS FROM HOME The items from home remaining in Baneberry Hall will not be available past this log, at least not in this form, so if you would like to play with these elements, you should not sleep on this opportunity. More things may show up in the future but, for now, this is the main event.
— DW NOTIFS Back at the beginning of the year, the issue of missing email notifs was discussed in a code push plurk by Mark of the DW admin team. For those who missed it, the gist is that the issue with missing notifs is not going to be fixed anytime soon. The issue is so sporadic that the dev team has concluded the only way to possibly fix it is to redo the notification system entirely. This issue does not extend to DW's internal inbox, so short of checking every thread you're involved in, the DW inbox is the best way to make sure you're not missing things.
— ACTIVITY CHECK Beginning with June's AC (posted at the start of July), all tags that consist of only dialogue will count as 0.5 comments, not just those that occur in an inbox thread. This applies to both AC and AP totals.

Day 63
Torn between wanting to hunt down the missing persons and to keep an eye on the two feral troublemaking Marshals moping around 1306, Doc ends up spending the morning tending to the two village idiots to alleviate some of the anticipated guilt that would come with inevitably abandoning them in the afternoon to embark on his wild goose chase.
"You could give me one day of you not doin' sommin' stupid," Doc gripes, unable to keep the grumpy or the disappointment out of his voice completely. He resists the temptation to give Raylan a rough shove while he's slumped in his favourite chair, tries not to drip warm water everywhere neither as he tends to those abused feet, a first aid kit sitting open and ready on the floor. Hopefully, not being able to walk again wasn't what Raylan had in mind when he wanted to get John Henry down on his knees.

Day 64
He had no reason to believe that there would be anything peculiar about the objects he might find within the building. He had managed to pick up and put back down a fair number of things as he moved from one room to the other in a silent drift without consequence.
It isn't until he picks up a couple of those innocent little bombshells (he might have been hallucinating the first time - it happens... sometimes...) that he realises the significance of those purportedly harmless trinkets and accoutrements. He... has questions, certainly. But more importantly, by late afternoon he has become a man with a mission, going through Baneberry Hall with renewed determination, looking for something his own old secrets might be hiding in. Preferably before anyone else finds it.

Mama! Mama!
[You hear your father shouting your name - "Callisto!" - and suddenly he appears, grabbing you by the arm and tugging you along, rattling out assurances in Ancient Greek as you go. Just as you pass the butcher's shop, the army arrives: fearsome men on horseback, carrying swords and cutting down any fighting man who dares stand in their way. At the front of the pack rides their leader, a woman every bit as formidable as the men around her. A man stands in front of his house to prevent them from coming in and ransacking the place, but though he carries a sword of his own (tarnished and dull, but a sword all the same), he's no match for the warriors. You watch as he's run through, and you scream as your father clamps his hand over your eyes and pulls you away.
The barn, when you arrive, is a welcome sight. Your mother and older sister are already there, and you run to them, letting them both wrap their arms around you as you sob. Your father joins the huddle, and for a few minutes, you all just stand there, holding each other and basking in the relief of your safety.
It's your sister who first notices that something is amiss. Lifting her head, she sniffs the air, asking in Greek if the rest of you can smell that. You've buried your face in your mother's tunic, but once you pull back, you can sense it, too: there's the scent of smoke in the air, and the crackle of flames - faint at first, but growing louder and louder by the second. Your father is the first to realize the implications of this, the first to think about how fast the village's wood and thatch buildings will burn. Shouting in alarm, he grabs you and your sister's hands and races for the front door, your mother at his heels - only to abruptly yank you back as the fire reaches the barn you're sheltering in, and the front portion of the roof caves in on itself.
Everything, from that point on, is a blur. There's no back door. There are no windows. There's no way out except through the fire, and in desperation, your father tries it - grabbing up a fallen wooden beam and attempting to use it to break through the debris, hoping he can clear a path for his family to rush through before the flames consume them. Instead, the debris catches fire, and then the beam catches fire, and then your father catches fire. He falls screaming to the ground, beating at the flames, and your mother rushes to help him, and you want to help him too, but your sister pulls you back. Talking hurriedly, tears and terror in her voice, she points out a small rotting section of the back wall. She slams her shoulder into it, creating a hole just big enough to squeeze through. Your mother comes up next to you, and you look back. Your father still lies on the ground, crumpled and still and overwhelmed in flames, but your mother pleads to you not to look and you obey, turning away.
The hole your sister made in the rotted wall is just big enough for you to squeeze through, and just before you try, you panic and try to pull back - because you're small enough to fit, but your sister is almost the size of an adult, and your mother is even bigger. But they're insistent, pressing you forward, repeating "Akolouthoúmen soí, akolouthoúmen soí - we'll follow you" as they shove you through. Jagged wood scrapes your skin and tears at your clothing, but you pop through the other side, back out into the fire-ravaged, warlord-ravaged village, where there are fewer people now but somehow even more screams. You turn back to the barn and the hole, scrambling across the ground, reaching for your mother and your sister, wanting to help pull them through next - but all there is is fire and smoke, stinging your eyes and making you cough. You hear one of them scream your name again, and you scream back - Mama Mama Mama Thalia Thalia Thalia - and then their screams are just screams with no words to them, and so are yours. The rest of the barn collapses in a tangle of wood and thatch and limbs - wood that has sheltered you, limbs that have held and comforted you, and you know deep inside you that none of those things will do anything like that for you ever again.
You don't know how long it takes you to tear your eyes away from the burning wreckage, and the charred, unmoving bodies of your family that you can just make out if you squint. But eventually, you stumble back, and take in the rest of the village again. The ruins of houses, none untouched by the fire. The bodies lying in the streets - some stabbed, and even more burned. The men on horseback, some gathering loot and others just looking over the destruction. The female leader, looking fierce and fearsome and furious. You stare at her. You you don't blink.
You feel like you'll never see anything else, ever again.]

Day 63 - Closed threads
But once he and his long limbs had a rest on the porch there, he carefully pulled on his socks, the soles immediately darkening with blood that was ignored as he pulled on his sand swept boots, one at a time. The pain was enough that he had to take another long minute to breathe before he stood back up and headed towards the rest of town.
Closed to Malcolm Chasm + Baneberry Hall
Raylan wanted to go check the Chasm, see what the new day, the storms, the chaos of it all that wasn't on the landscape at all (how convenient, considering how many buildings had been destroyed), but considering everything that had happened, him not being at home, whatever changes he might find in Mathis, he wanted Malcolm next to him for a bit. Call him greedy - he did, often enough.
He'd start at 1306 if he didn't see him along the slow way Raylan made there in the first place, but as soon as he found the man, he started in.
"Malcolm. I'm gonna go for a.. a walk. You wanna come?"
Penhew House - Closed to Doc and Tim
Raylan stood outside Penhew House for several long minutes, hands propped on his hips. This was the first house that was 'on the other side', regardless of the fact that there was no other side anymore. What had prompted the change? After all the bullshit he'd gone through to get over here, one might think that he was happy about it. He wasn't. People were missing, the landscape had changed and Mathis never opened up something without it having something horrible to give them, in the end.
Face schooled into a hard mask of neutrality, Raylan and his very careful steps worked his way up onto the porch. Once up to the door, he found himself almost afraid of what would happen if he touched the handle. Some part of him worried that the Shadow Man would rear up out of no where and kick his ass for daring to come into the house.
"Goddamn bullshit," he swore to himself as he pushed the door open.

Day 64
Whether his body might want to sleep in past 6:30am, his mind was having none of it. The best he could manage was to allow himself to lay in the soft embrace of his bed, staring up at the pink ceiling for a couple of hours. Then the need to pee reached the point of urgency and Tim began to lever himself up out of the bed.
He was still in the clothes he had borrowed from Raylan the night of the storm. For the normally fastidious young sniper; it was well past time to change. Scooting up to the head of the bed, he used the wall for support as a way to take some strain off his battered abdomen, while he worked through the initial muscle stiffness. Once he was vertical the short trek to his pink dresser was made without incident. Clothes acquired he made his slow, old man waddle to the bathroom.
As he suspected there was blood in his urine but it was not an alarming amount so he took that as a win. A shower was attained, the hot water helping to further soothe angry muscles, so that by the time he was dressed and headed for the stairs he was at least no longer waddling. In fact he managed to get into the kitchen, get coffee and get himself out back on a lawn chair. Once there, he stretched out under the sun, sipping cautiously at the coffee and pretending that he'd sat down; rather than fell with good aim.
Afternoon - OTA
After coffee and some sunshine Tim decided he was feeling limber enough to investigate the current bullshit Mathias was visiting upon them.
He was moving slowly, looked more than a little ridiculous to be quite honest, but he was a determined tortoise. His primary goals were the Old Church and Baneberry Hall. If he managed to make it past Penhew House ... bonus!

Day 63 - both open and closed
Raylan, somehow, slips away from 1306. Tim was gone when Neal got up, but that was unsurprising. The man seems determined not to know people. The uneasiness Neal woke with doesn't go away when he walks outside and sees the damage from the storm completely undone. It's instinct that drives him toward the town square, and when he sees the chasm... gone, he's pretty damn sure he knows where Raylan went. It's where he's going himself, after popping back to 1306 to get a backpack and duffel for scavenging.
He digs through unoccupied houses, of course, but he's also inevitably drawn to Penhew House, the Bed and Breakfast, and, finally Baneberry Hall. Shenanigans available in all places, naturally. Spoopy mirrors in Penhew, sneezing fits at the dust in the B&B, memories in Baneberry Hall--and anything in between.
Midday - closed to Malcolm
Yeah, it doesn't take that long in Baneberry hall for Neal to realize there are actual medications there. He stuffs his backpack with everything he can reach before realizing that asking Malcolm which of these things he can even use is probably a good idea.
He's just hoping Malcolm is at 1306, or that he spots him on the way there.
Afternoon - OTA
MORE EXPLORING GOES HERE I'm tired and it's late only god can judge me. This is also probably when he'll be seeing NEGAN, CALLISTO, DOC, and possibly some other memories. Delicious trauma. Also a good opportunity for folks to see his own memory!
Also, somewhere in here, when he returns to Baneberry Hall: he discovers Malcolm attacking a locked cupboard. I'm so good at toplevels.
Evening - closed to 1306
Neal is cooking. Which of course bodes well.
What bodes even better is that his right hand is trembling hard enough that he's having trouble even hanging on to the sharpened butter knife he's using to try and cut vegetables. Day 063
The world changed again, seemingly overnight. Growing accustomed to it, Liz rose early, before the sun had finished rising, to explore and get a lay of the land. Whether or not there were dangers, that didn't factor into her thinking. She wanted simply to move, to get a sense of this place and see if there was anything present that shouldn't be. Maybe not as terrible as her voice in a box, but something. There was a feeling niggling at her, chewing at the back of her neck that something was amiss or out of place.
The new buildings certainly seemed to fit that, far different from what she was used to in the Old West. Poppy Cottage was the closest she might find to home, but even then, it was nicer than anything she had really seen before. Were she more trusting, she might choose to stay there, but anything that appeared in this world never came without a steep price.
Penhew House was too nice and clean for her liking, but she stayed long enough to get a sense of the layout. It wasn't until the Church that she started to feel that fear again. She stared up at the crumbling ruins, seeing nothing of the Reverend's parish or the steeple where her mother hanged herself, but she could still sense the meaning of this place. There was always some power belonging to a church, some indication God had been there. Or perhaps...it was the trace of evil that the Reverend embraced.
Whatever the case, she trembled, unable to really move, watching the horizon fearfully, as though the man would suddenly appear.

{Daddy's not coming home » Memory
You slip out of your room and wander down the hall to Mommy's room, but she's not there. Neither is Daddy. You shrug and patter down the hall and to the end of the stairs. You hear the voices and try to be sneaky and listen to what's going on, but it's just a lot of chatter and words you don't understand.
"Mommy?" You tug on the skirt of a woman in the doorway of the front door to your house, who gasps and turns to look down and scoop you up in her arms. "Mommy, what's wrong?" You turn to look outside the door, where you see daddy and Malcolm having some kind of secret conversation you can't hear.
The police, who's cars are around the front of your house, lights blinking fast like you saw from your bedroom window upstairs, are putting Daddy in handcuffs. There are also all kinds of vans and people with cameras and microphones. You hear someone say something about "The Surgeon", which you guess makes sense, because that's what Daddy does at work. He's the best surgeon, and he fixes people whose insides don't work right. But that still doesn't say why the police are taking him away. "Mommy, mommy, why are they taking daddy away?" You scream, struggling in the grip of her arms. If you could get down, if you could talk to them, tell them that your daddy is the nicest and he would never do anything that meant he had to go to jail, they would let him go.
Mommy doesn't answer. She just sobs and pulls you closer, moving with you further into the house. She sets you on the couch and tearfully begs you to, "Just stay right here, baby. Please. Be mommy's angel, okay?" She pats your cheek and spins away, leaving you confused and upset. Malcolm got to talk to Daddy, how come you can't? It's not fair!
You sit in a huff on the couch, arms folded across your chest, until a kind man that Mommy says is police, comes to crouch in front of you. "Hey there, Ainsley." he starts, and you blink and stare up at him. "Your mommy asked me to explain something to you..." He looks like he is having troubles finding his words. That happens to you sometimes, so you wait patiently for him to find them. "Your daddy has to go to the police station and answer some questions. And I think... when we get done talking to him, he's going to be going away for awhile."
"How come?" you ask, pouting at the idea of daddy being away.
"Your mother will tell you about why when you're older." He assures you with a gentle hand on your knee. "You'll be okay, kiddo... why don't you go sit with your brother? I think he needs a bi-iiig hug from you right now."
You frown at the way he does that thing grown ups always do when they just don't wanna tell you something. You can't wait til you're old enough that people stop saying you'll understand when you're older. But the mention of Malcolm seems to catch your attention well enough. You glance over where he's sat in one of the oversized chairs on the other side of the living room, looking really sad. You decide the man is right and slide off the couch to go climb up in bubba's lap and hug him.
His arms go around you, like an automatic reaction. "Everything's gonna be okay, Ains." he mutters into your hair.

A dark beanie covered in dust sits innocuously in a hard-to reach spot in one of the bedrooms in Baneberry Hall. It's hard to find this one, and it's very likely that one will brush their hand against it randomly while searching, rather than plucking it out of the room outright. However, if you are so unfortunate enough to touch it, this memory immediately plays:

Eliot himself is in Baneberry hall at the time, exploring the different rooms. He's doing a pretty methodological search, paying careful attention to the lack of things as much as the things that are here.
He can be found checking the bars on the windows, the strange pajamas in the closets, trying to smash into the locked cabinets, or looking through the ruined paperwork to see if he can make anything out.
He will be spending most of the day here and the next, making it easy to run across him randomly during this time.

[ It had been there. She knows it had. Parker may see the world a littel differently than most people, but she doesn't imagine things that aren't there.
Usually.
And giant cracks in the earth don't just disappear overnight. She approaches slowly at first, tossing rocks and sticks at the place where the chasm used to be, to see if they fall through. When they don't, she comes a little closer, toeing tentatively at where the ground shouldn't be, and yet is.
Eventually, she gets braver, and braver still, until she's running back and forth along the ground, jumping up and crashing back to the ground as hard as she can, just trying to find a place where she can break through the illusion. ]

[ At first, it seems like a normal house. The kind of house Parker had never had a chance to live in, growing up - everything fresh and clean and new, carefully decorated and neat as a pin.
She brushes past the plush cushions and tasteful furniture without a second glance, looking for anything more portable, but there's nothing. No jewelry in the upstairs bedrooms, no antique china in the dining room or crystal vases on the tables. Even the artwork on the walls is worthless - bland, mass-produced landscapes that wouldn't be worth stealing even if she had a place to take them.
It's the third or fourth time she passes one of the house's many mirrors that she feels it - the creeping sensation that she's not alone. Parker freezes, listening carefully, but there's no sound, and nothing to see when she whips her head around fast to look back behind her.
Until she passes the next mirror, and sees the shadowy figure standing behind her.
It doesn't take her long to take action. Breaking mirrors is bad luck, so she resists the urge to do so even though she desperately wants to, instead just collecting every mirror in the house and stacking them, facedown, in haphazard piles in the middle of the living room. She doesn't even realize there are tears running down her face as she races though the house, grabbing mirrors and doing all she can not to look at them as she adds them to the hoard. There always seems to be one more, no matter how carefully she checks the rooms. ]

[ When she'd found her old bunny rabbit, resting carefully against a pillow as if it had always been there, all she could do was stare. It was a trick, it had to be, right?
But she and Hardison and Eliot had all been pulled here from Portland, too. No one knows how, but it had happened. Why shouldn't the same thing happen to Bunny?
She'd watched it carefully for a moment, all the same, waiting for it to slowly raise its head and look at her with glassy dead eyes, or maybe attack her. Or explode. But when none of that had happened, she'd let out a tiny whimper, hopeful and relieved, and rushed forward to grab it without a second thought.
And then the flashback had hit. It's not as though she'd ever forgotten what had happened. Not as though she hasn't relived it, over and over, countless times in the years since. But this had been different. As if she was there, seeing the car come around the corner, both too fast to stop and so slow it seems to take an enternity. Her own childish scream of terrible. The horrible sound of the collision.
Even when it's all over, she stays where she'd frozen in place when it began, curled up in a tight ball on the bed, one hand still holding Bunny in a white-knuckled grip, eyes unfocused and staring at nothing. ]

[ Can a man with an aversion to dust be blamed for gravitating towards the house that's actually clean? The answer is no, because Hardison says so.
Curiosity killed the cat. It hasn't killed a hacker yet.
He's sort of scoping things out in the upper and lower levels of this location- under beds, rooting around in drawers, picking up the throw pillows on the couches just because he's already here and might as well do it. After a certain point, for obvious reasons, he sticks to studiously avoiding the mirrors. It's a small price to pay to avoid creepy-ass mirror ghosts.
Some exception is taken for the entry hall mirror, which is big and ornate enough to merit some scrutiny. Even then, he's going to pains to focus on the photographs instead, stood off to the side somewhere.
Hardison is starting to worry about his "this might as well happen" ratio, because he's pretty sure it's getting dangerously high the longer he's in this town. On second thought, he has the dignity to look personally offended. ]
That is just... a whole-ass cult. Like, they really went all in on a big fancy clubhouse for their mirror cult.

[ And Hardison will do his requisite time exploring in Banebarry Hall himself, like most everyone in this little group they've got going. He leaves things like lock-picking to the people who can actually do it, in favor of poking around in the bedrooms and the library, and taking an interest in rooting through any illegible, ruined paperwork that he happens to come across.
Catch him at a grimy table or desk or on a bed, methodically filtering through a bunch of papers that reveal absolutely nothing because they're so far gone, which he can't say is super surprising?
But you know, there's something familiar about putting a bulk of work hours into this. Like, hey Hardison, here's a ton of vague nonsense information that you need to try to filter down and organize into real, relevant, useful information, if any exists, and it's a nigh-impossible feat to manage. Maybe it's weird to find comfort in that. He never claimed to be conventional, though.
The room-exploring curiosity that did not kill the hacker in the nice clean cult house does run him directly into some unfortunate memory-viewing experiences here, which is uhh. Not great. But he'll deal with that when he gets to it. ]

[ Lying somewhere in one of the rooms in Baneberry Hall is an innocuous, now dusty blue scarf. It's light enough in color that it might even be a little tough to differentiate with the dust surrounding it. It is, unfortunately, one of those personal items littering the building that comes with a free show attached to it.
And as one might expect from a memory that opens on waking up confused in darkness (the listed CWs are located in this video), this free show ushers in a front-row experience with icy dread, acute claustrophobia, and raw panic. ]
