Sparkling water. He is familiar with the concept. Soda was fairly commonplace even in his time, but the flavours were fairly limited. Rarely was it simply gassy water.

"Sarsaparilla was wildly popular. I remember being told it would help wean me off my uh, so-called 'opium problem'," he muses ruefully. "Coca-cola was a guaranteed hangover cure, too. Sparkling water sounds comparatively plain."
