“So abandoning the prospect of any tangible connection to other people is… what makes you happy?” Malcolm clarifies. “I’ve had to be my only advocate in a lot of situations from a pretty young age but… having been historically unable to rely on anyone hasn’t made me enjoy not having anyone to rely on. We all need someone to pull us up the cliff at some point. If you’re dangling over the edge, there’s no shame in accepting a hand.”
