'It's not that easy or simple' sounds like a deflection to Doc. The only reason he doesn't call Negan out is because he would also rather they not have this conversation. Sitting on their bathroom floor, no less. And he still needs to take that piss.

Maybe this whole conversation is just a little bit stupid, and they shouldn't be having it. He closes his eyes, breathes out a long, slow sigh and rubs his face tiredly, the fire beneath the man who was ready to kick Negan out the bathroom door all but extinguished.

"I do not and cannot taste anything right now." Which is not a 'fuck off and fuck you', but most definitely cannot be interpreted as an overt yes either. There are days - moments, even now - where Doc already reeks of desperation. He would not stoop lower than that.
