CONSEQUENCES

When the unwilling residents of Mathias Township wake on the morning of the 24th day, they will find themselves in yet another set of frustratingly unnerving circumstances. None of them are where they last remember being, and some of them have strange marks on the palms of their left hands. It's all incredibly unsettling, but truthfully they should be used to it by now. No one will remember traveling to their new location.

Residents can wake up anywhere within their new location and in any position. Curled up in a bed, sprawled on a couch, huddled beneath a coffee table, propped against a wall... Wherever they are, they will themselves to be in quite an unusual state. While they are wearing whatever clothing items they went to sleep in, plus their shoes and a coat. The newest arrivals to Mathias Township will perhaps stand out for being slightly more appropriately dressed than their new neighbors. They are all a bit damp, physically worn out, and half-frozen from their apparent walk through a blizzard.

Each of the four locations is inescapable — residents are trapped, with exterior doors and windows being shut tight and a blizzard raging outside. The locations are stocked with fresh food and water and a large pile of firewood for the fireplaces in each building. The circumstances residents will face, however, may vary wildly between locations as the forces at work in Mathias respond to the recent actions of certain individuals.

These residents will wake with a mark on their left hand palms, a spiraling black symbol similar to those some may have seen around town. All marks are identical and cannot be removed, but will have seemingly vanished from their skin on the morning of the 26th day.

DAYS 026-027
IN THE AFTERMATH
After their ordeals of the past two days, the unfortunate residents of Mathias Township will be grateful to find that they were back where they are supposed to be, a chill still clinging to their clothes in whatever place they went to sleep the night of the 23rd day. New arrivals will wake in the living room of the boarding house. None of the residents will wake with anything in their possession from the locations in which they were previously trapped, including any notes or documentation they may have made during their time there.

CONDITIONS UPDATE

— SNOW continues to fall heavily on Days 024-025, resulting in white out conditions from the wind that blows in gusts of over 35 mph; the temperature also drops drastically, making conditions extremely dangerous for residents. The blizzard clears on Day 26 and residents are left with a cold, calm world covered in white.

— THE FOG remains blocking the paths in the forest, urging residents to stay huddled within the town proper, and it also now blocks the northern section of town, beginning just before where residents know the chasm in the earth to be. Venturing into the fog is... ill-advised.

— DISAPPEARANCES continue to plague the town. Kylo Ren and Thomas Richardson have vanished without a trace.

— NO NEW DEATHS have occurred in town, but there is a new "grave" in the small makeshift graveyard near the schoolhouse. Rey's corpse has been moved and covered with stones to wait for the ground to thaw enough for a proper burial.

— THE LANTERNS will be gone from the morning of Day 024. No trace of them remains.

Fear Street.

[It's half-joking, half-serious. Carter steps back and wraps his bleeding hand. There's a slight flush of embarrassment to his face at getting caught in the middle of his dramatic 'ritual' and he clears his throat.]

Bad late night reruns of classic horror in the doctor's lounge. Stringing cliches together?

[Translation: He has no idea what he's doing, he just hopes it will stick somehow.]

I thought maybe it will calm them down. Maybe that's how the people in the pictures dealt with them.

[40seconds]

I see. Well, you're talking to someone who's about as normal as they come, so you've got one up on me there.

From what I understand, there's someone here who knows a thing or two about rituals and spells. Maybe you could talk to him if you're interested. Except, well, he's not here. I'm not sure where he ended up, actually.

[ And he's not sure if John is even looking to pass on his knowledge, so he's fully aware that he's potentially overstepping. ]

There's worse things you could be stuck watching, though. At least horror gives you a little spook to go along with the low budget.

[ He shrugs. ]

It's not a bad theory, actually, and you've probably already noticed, but all we have to go on here are a lot of theories and not much in the way of concrete information.

Oh, I don't--... this isn't--... I don't really think I have one ups on anything? This isn't something I do in my everyday life.

[There's an awkward pause as looks down at the bloodied peanut bar, the blood symbol on the ground.]

Really, it isn't?

[He swears!]

So, uh, yeah, I'll, I might talk to that person. Because I don't know anything about rituals and spells.

[He presses a tissue to the small cut on his hand trying to look like he didn't just perform some whacky impromptu blood ritual.]

At all.

[40seconds]

No? Aside from the fact that you mentioned learning things from watching late night television, you don't seem too green. But that's also coming from a guy who doesn't do spells in his everyday life either, so take that with a grain of salt.

[ He chuckles, because this is kind of an amusing conversation that they're having. ]

When all we have going for us are a bunch of theories? Any one of them could turn out to be viable. John's his name; we've been trying to set up some way of spreading information more easily down at Town Hall, so whenever we do get out of here, feel free to stop by. I'm sure one or both of us will be there at some point.

[ He glances at Carter's work, and then back at him. ]

Sorry, I don't have a band-aid. I guess this is the part where we just wait and watch, huh? Your guess is as good as mine if these things take time, or if they happen quickly.

[setthetone]

Yeah...

[Carter takes a step back, looking up at the mirror and, well. Does what Coulson just suggested and waits. And waits.

And waits a little longer until the nothingness of the endeavor keeps stretching out infinitely in the silence. His face feels a little warm, the embarrassment prickling like thousand little needles.]

Well. That did absolutely nothing. And I ruined a perfectly good peanut bar.

[And the floor. With his blood. Like some deranged maniac. God, what was he even thinking?]

I'll. I'll make sure to stop by Town Hall and report that snacks don't make for good sacrifices.

[Look, if any spirits maybe want to open the ground and swallow him whole, now would be an excellent time.]

[40seconds]

Well, I guess now we know that the spirits or whatever they are don't respond to blood sacrifices, and they don't like peanuts. I wonder what they do like.

[ And in case Carter thinks Coulson's not taking this seriously, he adds: ]

It was a good idea, and definitely worth a try. I'm sorry it didn't work out. How's your hand now?

[ It's not ideal but he'd consider tearing off a piece of his clothing to bandage it if needed. ]

And thanks, by the way. We've set up a little information exchange there, but word's still getting out about it. Any information at all helps.

[ He's just going to smile reassuringly because Carter seems a little embarrassed, but Coulson's not judging him in the least. He put in effort and it didn't pan out, but at least he tried. ]

I know there was a first aid kit around here somewhere. We should try to find it, and when we're done, see if there's something to eat in this place.

[ From where he's standing, both of them could use a break. ]
