When the unwilling residents of Mathias Township wake on the morning of the 24th day, they will find themselves in yet another set of frustratingly unnerving circumstances. None of them are where they last remember being, and some of them have strange marks on the palms of their left hands. It's all incredibly unsettling, but truthfully they should be used to it by now. No one will remember traveling to their new location.

Residents can wake up anywhere within their new location and in any position. Curled up in a bed, sprawled on a couch, huddled beneath a coffee table, propped against a wall... Wherever they are, they will themselves to be in quite an unusual state. While they are wearing whatever clothing items they went to sleep in, plus their shoes and a coat. The newest arrivals to Mathias Township will perhaps stand out for being slightly more appropriately dressed than their new neighbors. They are all a bit damp, physically worn out, and half-frozen from their apparent walk through a blizzard.

Each of the four locations is inescapable — residents are trapped, with exterior doors and windows being shut tight and a blizzard raging outside. The locations are stocked with fresh food and water and a large pile of firewood for the fireplaces in each building. The circumstances residents will face, however, may vary wildly between locations as the forces at work in Mathias respond to the recent actions of certain individuals.

These residents will wake with a mark on their left hand palms, a spiraling black symbol similar to those some may have seen around town. All marks are identical and cannot be removed, but will have seemingly vanished from their skin on the morning of the 26th day.

DAYS 026-027
IN THE AFTERMATH
After their ordeals of the past two days, the unfortunate residents of Mathias Township will be grateful to find that they were back where they are supposed to be, a chill still clinging to their clothes in whatever place they went to sleep the night of the 23rd day. New arrivals will wake in the living room of the boarding house. None of the residents will wake with anything in their possession from the locations in which they were previously trapped, including any notes or documentation they may have made during their time there.

CONDITIONS UPDATE
— SNOW continues to fall heavily on Days 024-025, resulting in white out conditions from the wind that blows in gusts of over 35 mph; the temperature also drops drastically, making conditions extremely dangerous for residents. The blizzard clears on Day 26 and residents are left with a cold, calm world covered in white.

— THE FOG remains blocking the paths in the forest, urging residents to stay huddled within the town proper, and it also now blocks the northern section of town, beginning just before where residents know the chasm in the earth to be. Venturing into the fog is... ill-advised.

— DISAPPEARANCES continue to plague the town. Kylo Ren and Thomas Richardson have vanished without a trace.

— NO NEW DEATHS have occurred in town, but there is a new "grave" in the small makeshift graveyard near the schoolhouse. Rey's corpse has been moved and covered with stones to wait for the ground to thaw enough for a proper burial.

— THE LANTERNS will be gone from the morning of Day 024. No trace of them remains.

I was in another house in this town. I arrived here a few days ago.

[ Helen nods. ] Others here have said the town may be in the northeast of America. I'm not certain if that is anywhere close to where you had been before you woke up.

Not really. I should be in Chicago right now?

[And saying it out loud makes it sink in that he's not and it comes with a terrifying tingling sensation, almost like vertigo or nausea. He exhales, pushing it down and rubbing at his face.]

Though, uh, it seems you've covered a lot more distance? From, from your, I mean, it's...

[He makes a somewhat pointless gesture towards his ear. He hears that accent? Something like that.]

And I was in British Columbia in a place called Old City.

[ She shrugs ever so slightly. ]

Although, yes, I was born in London.

That's still pretty far out.

[Which isn't comforting in itself but at the same time it feels good not to be the only one. Not to be alone with this.]

I don't suppose you know how or why we got here by any chance?

Very much so.

[ She smiles at him and glances around at a place to take a seat at. ]

Unfortunately, no. It seems no one truly has an answer to that inquiry.

Well, it was worth a try. Guess that would have been too easy.

[He hasn't been here long but long enough to get a feel for the frustrating inexplicability of this place. And it's only been one house so far. Bodes well for the future.

Carter puts the photo away to stick his hand out.]

John Carter. Nice to meet you.

[ She smiles and shakes his hand with the one imprinted with the design. ]

Dr. Helen Magnus. A pleasure, despite the current circumstances. At least we're not out in the cold.

[ Minus the fact she is in a pair of pajamas. ]

[Carter brightens at the word doctor.]

Oh! What's your field? Medicine? Because I--

[He beckons at his scrubs.

A beat.]

When I'm not trapped in a weird nightmare house, that is.

Medical doctor, with a handful of other various degrees.

[ She laughs. ]

Truth be told, Mr. Carter, the sight of scrubs is far more welcoming to me than you might think.

Glad to be of service.

... If I can be of service. I'm a surgical intern, County General. Oh hey, maybe you know some names, Peter Benton, David Morgenstern, uh, Donald Anspaugh?

[He doesn't sound too hopeful but it would be a nice coincidence. Maybe from a conference, who knows...]

Which reminds me, I'm probably missing rounds as we speak. I don't suppose there are any forms for emergency surprise kidnappings, are there?

I can't say I've run into anyone 4lse with those names. However, they may have arrived somewhere else in the town. I woke up in a graveyard not too many days ago.

[ She laughs lightly. ]

No, I doubt it. At least not to the magnitude we are experiencing.

That's too bad. Let's hope I still got a job when this is all over.

[And hopefully that optimistic when is going to be soon. And doesn't end with him coming to in a psych ward.]

A graveyard, huh? Wow. That would have really freaked me out. Guess I got off easy.

For all we know? Time may not pass at all for others back home. It's an entirely unknown situation, I'm afraid.

[ Helen offers him a smile and a pat to his arm. ]

However, I could always help with your residency here. Provided we keep whatever knowledge we learn once we return home.

[ As she is very certain they will return home. ]

I've had far worse experiences. It was... unsettling to say the least.

[Carter brightens at the offer.]

That would be great, I'd appreciate that. I'd hate to fall behind, it's, uh, it's very competitive, you know. I mean of course you know. Heh.

[He's not sure if it will count for anything back home but hey, at least he will be able to go back with some receipts? With some air of I really did try my best here in this horror village and I really think that should count for something. ... And then probably cry while clearing out his locker.]

You know, I was about to ask worse like what but I already heard about a story about murder phones and people coming back from the dead so I'm getting a bit wary about questions like that...

Well, it certainly has become far more competitive than when I became a doctor. That was some time ago.

[ She gives him a quick smirk, being a tad mysterious on purpose. Perhaps leave out the bit about the horror town. If needed, she'd write a letter of recommendation! Then again... a version of her may not even exist in his reality. ]

Ah, so, they told you about the fog already.

Oh come on, can't have been that long.

[He smiles, trying to be charming. Little does he know!]

Yeah, I talked to Mr. Henry. He's really nice! He made me coffee. ... And, well, gave me a bit of a rundown.

[ Maybe someday she'll tell you. Not today~ ]

What else has he shared with you? It took me speaking with a few people to get somewhat of a handle on this town.

Uh... That we're all from different places. And that if I get any cryptic instructions, I should follow them.

[Carter ticks off his fingers, trying to remember everything.]

... Oh yeah! And that I should make friends.

[He flashes her another quick smile at that.]

I think he's right about that. It would be terrible to be all alone in this place.

I would say that entirely depends on the cryptic instructions. After all, you wouldn't want to jump into a well simply because they told you to.

[ Friends though. That is a fair enough sound advice. She nods. ]

I doubt any of us would get far if we didn't have colleagues.

[There's a pause. Carter hadn't really considered that but it makes sense.]

I guess not. So only follow cryptic instructions that doesn't downright kill you?

[He can do that. He thinks.]

Yeah, you kinda get used to working in a team, huh? I hope it's gonna be the same here.

I would say 'no' to any cryptic instructions.

[ She gives him a look -- one that a mother might. ]

You do. As long as they're all willing to work together.

[Eep.]

Uh. Okay. But, I thought, with the phones... it's just, people told me to answer the phones? And now you're telling me to say no, I'm not... really sure, how do I differentiate there?
