( things have really taken a turn. while elijah had never been comfortable with this place, he'd at least settled in the boarding house only to have it destroyed in the blink of an eye. he hadn't even been able to save anything because fire was one of those things that vampires just couldn't get close to.

so, they'd lost all their things and they'd had to take shelter in the antique shoppe. it's not ideal but elijah is glad that they're at least alive.

during the day, he does wander through what's left of the town, trying to find people that he knows and anything else that might be of use. he does find his way to the town hall to see if there's anything new there but only finds that more people have arrived and little else.

it's on the way back to the antique shoppe that he sees it. at first, he just thinks it's a bit of debris but as he gets closer, he realizes that the crumpled, grey skinned body outside the shoppe is his own corspe.

eliha knows what's happened to him. he knows what's killed him but he doesn't know why. a sense of uneasiness settles over him and he looks away, trying not to focus on the little details of the whole scene.

but eventually his eyes do come back and he stares, unable not to. )
