The only difference was plausible deniability but Parker probably wouldn't care about that, unsurprisingly. Not like it mattered here anyway; some habits were just hard to get rid of.

"Better that I draw it out than try to judge whether or not you know how long it takes you to walk three quarters of a mile," he said as he came to a finish, dropping the pencil purposefully on the desk so his hand could prop on his hand on his crookedly set hips.

He didn't change an iota at her sudden panic, stoically taking it and answering with a faint lift of his eyebrows. If she didn't say anything, he'd elaborate.

"I've already died once. That's where I got these striking accents on my face. Sometimes people don't come back. I can't be sure I will, if I die again. Or if I vanish like other people have. We gotta plan for that kinda stuff, communal knowledge is important." He let a beat pass and continued a little more softly.

"I know it ain't pleasant to think about." Even if he wasn't sure how Parker felt about him in the slightest, he didn't have to be an unfeeling ass about it. He was just glad she wasn't afraid of him right now.
