She can hit him later for it if it would make her feel better. It would mean that she survived and that's what mattered to him at this exact moment in time. It helped that she didn't fight him and he was able to move them a little more smoothly and quickly with her head down, weight more evenly distributed.

If Raylan was more in his mind, he would be adding to that list, going out and helping himself, but he couldn't. It was everything he had in him to stay here and not run madly into the woods, so instead, he nodded.

"Maybe half our number. Maybe no more," he answered Ainsley first as he gently set her on the floor against a wall that was more interior than exterior, near enough to a corner that she could shuffle to lean against if she needed. "You okay?"

"I'll check for things here, turn on the lights, get some of this shit out of the way in the meantime," he said back to Malcolm with a nod. "Be careful. You better come back in one piece," he threatened with a seriousness that was undercut by how real the fear was that Malcolm wouldn't.
