Parker's stunned into silence for just a moment, but she can tell Ellie's not angry at her. And she understands. She's been angry enough herself, at the town, at the way the chasm had disappeared like it had never been there, at constantly going to sleep in one place and waking up somewhere else. Never knowing what's going to happen next, or who might vanish without a trace.

So she lets Ellie get it out, trying to gather her thoughts and explain as well as she can. Considering she barely understands it herself.

"The chasm disappeared. We tried to dig it up again, but it was all gone. Callisto said...she said the gods took it away. Just because they could."

The memories, though, are more difficult to explain. She pauses, looking briefly up to the sky as she tries to push away the thought of her own memory. How upsetting it had been to hear that Hardison had seen it for himself.

"Then there were...there were things, in the house. Things that belonged to people. To us." Like her bunny. She takes a breath. "And when you picked them up, something that belonged to someone else, you could see...you could remember their memory. A bad one."

She looks uncertainly at Ellie, still unable to adequately explain why she doesn't know any of this. "Maybe you just...didn't pick anything up?" Or go outside, to see the ruins or the solid ground where the chasm had been.
