Malcolm took a deep breath, stabbing a blueberry and eating it before looking at Raylan.
“I was mad at Tim for a minute. It felt like it was all a game to him, hiding it from me while nudge nudging me about us. He knew about us and he didn’t say anything either. He didn’t urge you to say anything. I thought cowboys and soldiers were supposed to have a sense of honour. I felt duped. But…” He rolled his shoulder in a shrug. “Whatever.” He made an expansive gesture with his fork before stabbing some pie. “My heart is too achy and soul is too wrung out for me to have the energy to be pissed off at Tim. I can’t guess what was actually going through his head when he was offering me advice. Maybe he felt guilty. He doesn’t let me know what he thinks and I don’t know what you told him about us.”
