Raylan's expression creased back in pain, bobbing a little as he studied those impossibly blue eyes.
"Malcolm, you're gonna break him if you don't talk to him before that," he whispered. "You might not realize it Darlin' but he's part of this. I can't go back there and pretend everything is normal with him. Don't break him. Don't make him leave because of this. He's family. He can't leave us too."
It didn't matter that Neal was pissed or had tried his turn with the Marshal. Raylan had earned it. Neal was defending Malcolm's honor. Neal had done the right thing. He shouldn't be punished for it by being left out.
