Oh, damnation and Newcastle were certainly sensitive subjects. He danced around Newcastle for weeks before Zed finally got the details out of people. He still didn't appreciate it, but, what was done was done. Zed didn't seem to press it against him. Though, how much of that was her near blind faith in him... that was something else.
