There's just the slightest flinch when Neal touches his face in the dark, but he doesn't shy away from it.
"Life was easier when I was dying," Doc says quietly as the cold and wet starts soaking through his clothes and into his skin. He could make any decision based on the here and now, take what he wanted, hurt anyone he pleased, and not care so much for the repercussions. Sometimes that is what drives him crazy with the recklessness in this house. He can't be that man anymore.
"I am tired." And this Sisyphean effort of making the hard choices, righting old wrongs, being better, it all don't seem to amount to much right now.
