Before Malcolm leaves the bedroom, he hugs Doc tightly, kisses his temple gently and turns the lava lamp on.
It’s a couple of hours before he comes back, but when he does, he slips his restraints on and curls up against whatever side of Doc is facing his side of the bed.
“Everyone’s home, safe and sound,” he murmurs into fabric.
Possibly a little injured and definitely wet, but Doc can worry about whatever idiocy happened out there in the morning. The soggy cats in the livingroom would keep.
