[ max is confused enough to not realize what she's doing at first - it clicks after a moment or two that she's being corrected, and her mouth purses (she can be plenty bratty herself). but then callisto speaks in english again, and then she asks her a question, about the box she's holding. which she'd kind of forgotten she'd been holding with the storm attacking them.
