"No. I was a dentist before I became too ill to practice, but children were a rare sight in the halls." And the professions he moved onto were... not friendly to children. You don't see children at the poker table or in the bordellos and saloons. And Doc has never gunned down a child. It goes against everything he believes in.

"Might do you some good, given all the things that happen here. But it does not work for me either." He has a restless heart, yearning for more than what he has, always on the move, always chasing, reluctant to settle. He has been made to be still and put up with his own misery for too long.

"You said you were a teacher. You must have plenty more experience in that department."
