Sure, she knows this is a song by Pearl Jam. But for her, it's just Joel, Joel personified, a thing she can't have anymore but can't escape from. She hadn't even meant to get fixated on it again, but she keeps coming back to it. This is her last connection to Joel that isn't just her simmering anger, her grief.

It threatens to choke her.
