"Come on. Have a seat." Doc pulls one leg back, bending it at the knee while the other hangs off the edge of the bed. Patting the still-warm space in front of him, he invites Malcolm to sit.
There were too many things to unpack in Malcolm's almost-blubbering so Doc is going to address them all separately.
"I can- mind the bottle at the foot of the bed - I can take a look at that." He reaches around to get the light. It's not the brightest light in the room but it would serve them just fine. "And then you can tell us what's keeping you awake. Are you worried about waking up somewhere else again?"
That's how they're going to chew through the elephant in the room. One bite at a time.
