And just like that, there was no more easy joking about it. They'd been swerved back onto a blunter honesty. Raylan's smile curled at the edges and he nodded.

He wasn't going to say that Malcolm frightened him. Practically speaking, he didn't. They weren't talking 'practically' and Raylan found it hard to turn around to face the suggestion being made because there was a very loud ring of truth to it.
