"That was how seriously the dispatcher took a child telling them that a murderer lived there. They sent one beat cop, alone, with a serial killer terrorizing the city. I saw him waiting in the entry hall. My father had offered him a cup of tea. I told him to take out his gun, because my father was going to kill him. To his credit? He took me seriously."
