[Castiel doesn’t miss the way the weather seems to be turning increasingly cold and increasingly tending towards snow. He doesn’t know what this township is, nor where it is supposed to be located, but the weather reminds him of several states within both the Northeast and the Midwest he’s traveled through with the Winchesters. He remembers certain cases that they’ve worked, the way they have sometimes had to hole up at whichever motel they were staying at in order to wait out the storm, and it’s those particular memories that guide Castiel to gathering supplies and beginning to start preparations in case of the worse.
He can be found throughout the town, whether browsing through the selection at Poe’s Clothes for clothes geared for winter and/or additional layering, the General Store for basic food and drink items, or Barker Botanicals to see if he can find any additional herbs or plants they might be able to use for potential first aid materials. He may or may not also make a trip into Beauty Supply to see if he can't find something nice to gift to Claire.
When Castiel eventually comes across the lantern with the note, he immediately gathers said lantern up, cradling the object like a newborn child. He takes the lantern back to the home he shares with Dean and Claire, and he works to ensure the lantern stays lit.]
