He can. He has. He would again, gladly. But he has nothing to prove by arguing his point with John Constantine, by dragging out examples that don't matter here. His mistakes had cost him dearly but he has learnt from them. Knowing what he knows now he would rather die being branded a coward than die a hero and hurting everyone he could ever love.

"Your recklessness is going to get somebody hurt. Mistakes we made a hundred and thirty years ago are being paid for by our great great grandchildren today. Somebody is going to die a most terrible, unnecessary death because you wanted to take a preemptive punch at something you don't understand and cannot control. Maybe you can live with that. I can abide by it no longer."

He doesn't want to talk about Wyatt and the sins the two of them committed in the past anymore. Or Wynonna. Or any god damn Earp that isn't around right now.
